Does your head hurt when you exercise?

in #fitness7 years ago

If you have ever noticed a mild or intense pain while doing your usual sport, or within minutes of finishing, you should know that this discomfort is more common than you think. Of course, because it can have different origins, it is important to identify where it comes from so that we can remedy it as soon as possible.

These are 4 of the most common factors that can induce headache during sports practice:

Dehydration

Our body has several ways to warn us that it is losing much more water than we are replenishing and this is one of them. And is that when we exercise, sometimes we are so concentrated that we forget to drink water during practice or, worse, we think that it is enough to drink at the end. The advisable thing to avoid suffering from dehydration, especially on sunny days, is that we make small breaks between exercise and exercise to replenish lost fluids and electrolytes through sweat.

Inadequate breathing

When exercising many people hold their breath or begin to breathe improperly, that is, they stop inhaling through the nose and exhale through the mouth. When we are congested, the probability of performing the breath incorrectly increases, since we unconsciously tend to breathe more through the mouth when faced with the difficulty we find in the respiratory tract. That is why it is important that, before exercising, we try to clear our nose based on nasal washes with sea water, which will help us to be less congested during exercise. So we favor that inter-cranial pressure, which in itself increases with exercise, does not end up producing an annoying headache.

Hypoglycemia

Presenting a low level of blood sugar can be one of the reasons that lead us to suffer from this ailment. And is that glucose is a vital source of energy for the body, so if we submit to overexertion, coupled with the fact that we have not ingested adequate amounts of it to cope, we will be more likely to suffer a headache. To prevent this, it is important that we follow a healthy diet that includes snacks that contain the necessary sugar and are as healthy as possible, such as pieces of fruit.

Overexertion

Knowing how to listen to our own body is essential to not overreach when exercising. Making an extra effort, continuously and without sufficient preparation can end up causing fatigue and headache associated with the tension of the muscles in these areas. Therefore, it is important that we do not set ourselves instantaneous goals but that we work progressively so that our body gets used to this practice and responds better and better to it.
