Today's Sustainable Feast in the Garden of Eden

in #food7 years ago

It is another beautiful day in the Garden of Eden, and we are giving thanks for more than enough of everything in this abundant life of freedom!

We made a delicious feast for our volunteers today, and because we have below freezing weather we prepared the food indoors on our wood burning stove rather than on the rocket stoves of our sustainable outdoor kitchen! We stayed nice and toasty, had a fantastic meal, AND heated water for showers for super sustainable efficiency. As usual, there was more than enough food for everyone, and we are happy to share our abundance with you.

Today we made barbecued chicken, creamy potatoes with broccoli and cauliflower, and a fantastic salad!

We love starting our daily feasts with a huge, fresh, raw salad! Our garden is productive year round, and eating vibrant, living food right out of the Earth helps the body feel great. Today's salad had a bed of spinach with grated carrots, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and squash, and we have lots of seeds, nuts, dried fruits, cheeses, and salad dressings for everyone to customize their own portion.

For a side dish, we made creamy potatoes with broccoli and cauliflower! We sliced potatoes thin, sautéed them just a bit in butter, and poured cream all over them to continue cooking. We added more veggies towards the end of their cooking time to soften just a bit, and sprinkled the whole thing with parmesan cheese!

For our meat eaters, we offered a main dish of barbecued chicken!

This is an easy dish to make, and the carnivores really enjoyed it. We used tangy, smoky barbecue sauce as a glaze while the chicken cooked, and we served more on the side for saucy dunking and drizzling.

It was another wonderful spread with plenty of food for all - feast your eyes upon this colorful, happy, wholesome table!!

Food is important, and we hope to inspire people to really take time to eat, enjoy it, and share it with someone you love. We also hope to inspire more and more sustainable practices in regards to food!
