If I am being honest.....my diet sucks

I enjoy cooking but....

If I am being completely honest here, my diet sucks. I prepare home cooked meals most days, but we are a large family and mama is busybusybusy Healthy food is so much more expensive, and with four growing boys our food bill is already throw the roof. I estimate that I spend anywhere for $800-$1000 USD on food every month.

Also, I am really just not a big fan of....

Meal planning and grocery shopping (Do people really enjoy this part?!?!?)

This is what a weekish of groceries looks like here.

Oh yeah, all this too.

This is about $200 worth of food. Which is normally what I spend. I normally go shopping every 5 days or so (once a week if I can get away with it). We eat out maybe once a week, normally pizza and most always on Tuesdays (I did not figure the eating out in my food cost estimate, pizza is normally $30, if we do fast food it is closer to $40). I hate Tuesdays, stupid night shift.

Tonight I asked my dude for a dinner suggestion....

He said "something healthy". Salad for the win. As I mentioned my diet sucks, it has been awhile since I made salad (by itself) for dinner. If I am going to eat a stand alone salad, I want lots of goodies to pile on it. So after an hour worth of prep I enjoyed that massive salad pictured above, it was delicious. Also on the menu for the week is Shepard's Pie, Parmesan Chicken, Breakfast for dinner, and Pork Chops. Additionally, since we are still being honest here, I absolutely bought chicken tenders and french fries for whatever day I am feeling particularly overwhelmed in the next week. I am after all working 2 jobs nowadays, and I have never claimed to be any sort of superwoman.

Sometimes love looks like this....

Much Love,

Sometimes it takes an ilness or some kind of health problem before people really change there diet long term. Its amazing how much of an impact it can make though!

I often go to a local farmer market. There I can buy loads if healthy and good food. All sorts of vegetables and fruits. Not more in price than in stores and its fresh. Then we often cook at home. Its fun to cook.
Cheers J

Nice meal tonight.. I hope you enjoyed it, I love salad too

I like salads myself though I am the only one that will eat it unless there is taco meat and nacho cheese and chips added. LOL

Yah I see, looks like you always want to spice the meal up with some delicious food regardless.

Lol..if you can manage to get away with it. Meal planning can be tiresome most especially if you are a busy person. I have seen people grab fast foods almost all of the time. And that diet can suck as well as it's not healthy. I know you were always able to notice.
A shift to a salad like you did feels much better. Seems like you will go back to meal planning and thoughtly planned shopping as well. Good luck on changing your diety.

How do you have any time left for Steemit or Whaleshares? You are Superwoman! I made this Valentine for Steemians like you that work hard to make it great everyday!

i am almost like as you. i spend a lot of money for food.

your salad looks really tasty, specially with all those extra goodies and because it is salad you don't feel so guilty about adding them

This looks delicious even without tasting it.. I am really salivating right now. This post just made me hungry.
