All 16 teams have been confirmed for IEM Sydney 2019
Following the IEM Sydney Derby, Chiefs and Grayhound Gaming round out the 16 teams that will be attending IEM Sydney next month.
After Grayhounds won the ESL AU & NZ Championships last week, Chiefs have now joined them as the last two teams to qualify for IEM Sydney. They now both join the world-class lineup of Counter-Strike teams, including the likes of FaZe Clan and Team Liquid. They may also share the stage with fellow Aussie's and crowd favourites Renegades. All 16 teams will battle it out for the IEM Sydney 2019 trophy and the $US 250,000 prize pool.
Chiefs Esports Club captain 'Tucks' said:
“We're happy to have qualified for IEM Sydney again - this team is very special, and we're feeling confident going into the tournament. We'll be putting in a lot of work to give ourselves the best chance of making the stage in Qudos Bank Arena this May.”
IEM Managing Director, Nick Vanzetti, said:
“IEM Sydney is the most prestigious esports tournament in Australia. As one of only four world stops for Intel Extreme Masters with some of the best CS:GO players on the planet competing, having local talent representing us up on a global stage is fantastic for our region. Grayhound and the Chiefs have an amazing opportunity in the spotlight and they’ll have the support of a huge local crowd behind them. We’re eager to see how they perform"
The group stages of IEM will be broadcast leading up to the live stage quarterfinals at the Qudos Bank Arena. Attendees will not only get to watch their favourite teams competing but enjoy many other events and booths. The Overwatch Contenders Australia Season One Finals will be played on stage over two days for the $US 100,000 prize pool. There will also be over 20 booths that fans can visit to try out new products or win prizes. From participating in open tournaments from a range esports to watching live-streamed PC building.
There are still tickets available for IEM Sydney 2019, the Global Elite passes are sold out but there are plenty more options for fans to grab before May.
