Android Project 3 - Enemy sprites and explosions

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

I think I have finally settled on the game that I'm going for now and I've decided it's going to be a classic bullet hell style arcade shooter. I'm still working on the art side of things but I've been experimenting with particle effects again and getting explosions working for when you kill the enemy ships.

As you can see I've got a very basic sketch of some sort of alien craft that spawns in I'm definitely going to be working more on that and I will be looking at getting some background art done possibly. There's other stuff I need to think up now like power ups and things like that, this is actually shaping up to be a pretty nice little android arcade shooter.

With regards to my top down shooter I might do that next but I felt it would be too annoying to get into for my first project and I've learned from my mistakes with Rabbit and the moon. I shouldn't focus so much on ideas that are going to be an absolute pain to implement until I understand them fully otherwise I just won't have a shot at making any money which at the end of the day is what I'm here to do.

Not to say I've abandoned the idea though, I've just shelved it for now and will be looking more carefully at the code behind it there were just some annoying issues with rotating smoothly that I was getting frustrated by and other things I need to consider, collision was also an issue when dealing with my rigidbodies.

Anyway, here's some newer game footage of the bullet hell arcade shooter I'm making. Not much going on right now but that's because I'll need to get to doing all the particle effects and art.
