Connecting with Nature: How Spending Time Outdoors Can Improve Your Mental Health and Well-being

in #health2 years ago

Being around nature can have positive effects on our mental health and well-being. While we live in cities today, connecting to nature isn't all that hard. Even if you don't have access to a big yard, a balcony or an apartment terrace, you can still spend time outdoors without worrying about where you'll park your car.

Even if you spend most of your time indoors, spending time outdoors can benefit your brain and overall happiness.

In this post, I'll share three things that connect people to nature and boost their mental health and well-being:

First, spending time in nature is good for your physical health. One study showed that spending more time outdoors lowers blood pressure and heart rate. It also lowers stress hormones.

The second thing that connects people to nature is the feeling of being close to home. When you spend time outside, you connect with nature, and by doing so, you become closer to home. The reason is because nature reminds us of home.

The last connection is about our connection to others. Spending time together in nature can connect us to one another. Spending time alone or spending time with a friend can also benefit our mental health.
