Having grown up on a ranch and a big farm at age 16, these tractors bring back memories of many hot weather driving in Nebraska for 8 hours a day and 7 days a week. Notice the handcrank start tractor. My neighbor actually had an older John Deere hand crank start abled.

I wonder how hard it would be to turn that crank?

Depends on the size of the motor. Very dangerous since you could get your arm torn off if you dont pull back on the handle to disengage after the motor start to release from the slot that hold the handle in to be able to crank.
