Here are our home Solar stats for the month of May 2024 which shows what we produced and where it went, May has been a pretty disappointing month but it is Winter after all.

Lots of Rain & Cloud did not help either but hey like i said above its winter here in New Zealand, a couple of times i charged the battery from the Grid as we were supposed to have grid issues the next day due to it being so cold.

We dropped 67% self powered in April to 44% self powered in May so our power bill will be higher in May.

In April we imported 223 kWh and in May we imported 491 kWh and we expected very little, i am not surprised as May was very cold and bleak.

We generated 486 kWh in April and in May that dropped to 398kWh, hey i will get what we are given until i learn to control the sun LOL.

These graphs show the powerwall battery and where its power comes from and where is discharges that power to, incoming solar outgoing house.

In April the house used 660 kWh and since it's been so cold that has increased to 846 kWh due to us wanting to stay nice and warm - heat pumps/clothes dryers etc etc...

Here are the last7️⃣months to catch you up on the action.

So we have not had a great month but you get that with Solar in the Winter months.

Thanks for reading my Solar post

I guess your May is equivalent to our November in the UK.

Do you have an Air Source Heat Pump for heating?

At least we do not get snow where i live, we use heat pumps for heating in winter and cooling in Summer.

Looking back at May 2023 we are about the same stat wise as last year.

Do you have gas or oil or wood for supplementary heating in the winter?

Or are you all electric?

Our house is only 5 years old, so it is a pretty warm house without any heating.

But yes all electric at this stage ⚡

Sad you experience such a low production in May. I wouldn't know if that was general to all the solar users.., but I didn't have a good experience in May too.

I am not sure of June either, even though the month just started. We are in rainy season now.. There has been a lot of rainfall almost everyday.

And most times, situations like this demand for more panels for fast charge.

PS: It is highly recommended to use less loads during low sunlight moments.

June is what season over there...?

I wish you a great experience in June. Thanks for sharing your stats for May.

June over here will be even worse than May as Winter will start to bite.

Pretty much the same as last May

Adding more panels will not make much difference when there is no sun.

But you have to expect that in Winter and we are not worried at all.

Are you guys over there in Winter or Summer?

So, I'll say...it's just coming to it's season again and history has repeated itself. Perhaps, You can never have enough panels and batteries.., I'll conclude.

"Better days ahead", I'll add.

But you have to expect that in Winter and we are not worried at all.

That's better.

Are you guys over there in Winter or Summer?

Whilst I know what summer and winter season is.

I'll also need to clear that Nigeria is on the equator, and that beign the case, it has just two seasons and that is "rainy season and dry season". Each of these seasons last for months.

We don't have summer or winter.

Presently, we are in rainy season. That's why it rains almost everyday.

Sometimes, there might be sun in the morning and heavy rain in the afternoon , evening or night....vice versa.

But no matter what.... #welovethesun and we love to #gosolar !

Dear,
Your solar output for May has decreased for winter period. I am interested to know about the app or software to view your solar power generation statistics. I want to use this app or software in my country solar system. Solar systems produce less during winter and some days during monsoons. Still your stats seem to have good solar efficiency. Good luck to you.

This is the Telsa app that you get with a tesla powerwall, its ok but i hear there are better apps that show you what each individual panel is doing.

yeah Winter is Winter and until i can change the weather myself :)

I will try and find that app and let you know
