RE: Steem Debates #3 : Steemit Engagement Challenge

As far as I am concerned, I take part in 2-3 selected contests every week, but to be honest, I am not satisfied with the way the contests limit creativity.

I agree that all users of this platform are not professional writers, so the guidelines in the form of questions provide them with a basis to work on their articles. However, I am of the firm belief that this format of the contest is a demotivating factor for most established writers, and they stay away from all these contests.

I believe the contests are okay, but we can divide them into two parts. One, the users can write on dotted lines, and two, the users can write their posts as they wish to explain the topic without any headings or subheadings but in a free-flowing style.

We shall have to look into the selection process by the communities too, as some of the selections are subpar, which is a demotivating factor for most better authors.

Finally, selection based on the number of comments is definitely inviting spam, as most users do nothing but repeat what the author has written in his post, which adds no value to the content.

I agree with you on that, friend @dove11... If we think of "quality content", one imagines writing, style, depth of content, layout of the publication, use of tags... in short, that it is fresh, interesting and fun to read.
