Upvoting” is a spice of life on this Steemit platform. It is one of the things that encourages newbies to keep posting because they know their work isn’t being ignored. You only lack upvotes when you try to game the system. Thanks to the moderators, there are measures in place to address such bad practices.

I feel we owe each other upvotes because you didn’t get to where you are without them! Being a club member has also helped build our Steem power, which in turn improves our upvotes.

Upvotes also give you the opportunity to earn more through curation rewards. However, one question I have always wanted to ask is whether people with little or no Steem power are entitled to curation rewards. I’ve noticed that when I upvote, I only give $0.001, which seems insignificant.

If it comes to upvoting we all are curators so give your upvote and support others. It's a way to promote yourself as well. I am eager to upvote those up voting me although I can not always give the same amount back (if I receive a higher upvote) I do give higher upvotes than too many which show as 0 to me.

Every vote counts and if many give a low vote together it can be a big one, but you can make your vote count more if you vote on 6-day-old posts! Try it out!

I always try to upvote a comment where it says someone upvoted or it's 0.01.
I know in the old days <0.01 was not paid out and called 'dust' if it is today.

Also in my experience, it's better to upvote a post as a comment. I noticed I have to give the double voting percentage a comment as when I upvote a post. Posts Will be likely easier be upvoted which makes your upvote valuable.

It's 6 days because after 7 days there is not anymore the possibility to vote. It's because the payout comes within a week since publishing. I'm not aware about the different weight of the vote as time passes by, but I'm seeing now how timing influences voting in the comment our friend @mikitaly posted.

 4 months ago (edited)

Singkatnya, menurut saya beginilah cara kerjanya: jika Anda memberi suara positif sebagai salah satu orang pertama sekitar menit ke-3-4, Anda menerima hadiah kurasi tertinggi.

EN

In short, I think this is how it works: if you upvote as one of the first around the 3-4th minute you receive the highest curation reward. It is the same for upvoting in an earlier period 1-2 days.

If you upvote around day 4-5 you can see after you upvote that the earnings of the one you upvoted drop (it depends on the height of your upvote) what it means I don't know perhaps you receive a part?

If you upvote on a 6-day-old post your vote will be higher but also the height depends on the one you upvote. So indeed the bigger the wallet of the one you upvote the higher your upvote will be (which is always good if it's 0 at least that's how it feels to me so yes, there are many I upvote on the 6th day just to give them that -0.01 cent extra. I don't think that will benefit me but it does to the receiver).

Perhaps @mikitaly knows why upvoting a big one makes their earnings go down?

Voting window in Steem Blockchain

image.png

You can find the chart in @kuoba01's post: Understanding How Curation Works In Steem Blockchain

The post explains how the curation and voting system works on Steemit and the concept of the 'voting window', i.e. the ideal time to vote, and how timing can influence the rewards received.

Have a look at it, I hope it helps.😉

It helps me although, I notice some things I can't explain yet.

What happens if I vote and see the earnings go ⬇️

Unfortunately, some points are a bit incomprehensible even for me.🥴
I can't answer whether voting decreases gains.
But if you take that table into account, you can vote at the right time and perhaps not lose earnings.

 4 months ago (edited)

It's not my earnings that get lost but the one I vote on. I wonder why. At times I think that if I vote the upvote given by a bot or SC becomes less...

Inilah manfaat saling membalas komentar, ada pengetahuan baru di sana, semoga steemian yang lain bisa membaca ini.

Siapa pun yang ingin dapat membacanya dan menerjemahkannya.

I just upvoted 6 day old posts. My SP is low right now but my 0.01 changed into 0.02. It proifs it's true.
No idea what it would have been with 100 SP but can't wait since my time is limited.

you can make your vote count more if you vote on 6-day-old posts! Try it out!

I will definitely give this a try and see what comes out of my upvote.

Keep me updated and share here what you figured out. We can learn from it.

@sbamsoneu, absolutely upvoting is essential on Steemit because it motivates creators and helps build a supportive community.

As for curation rewards, all Steemit users are entitled to curation regardless of their voting power: as long as they contribute quality work, are active and comment on other people's posts, they are not on the platform just to do withdrawal and power down, but want to be part of the Steemit machine and grow with it.

Remember that even your small contribution matters and over time, as you gain more Steem Power, your upvotes will become more impactful.😉

Steem Power, your upvotes will become more impactful.😉

Yeah…. That is why I love this idea of different clubs that was initiated to make people power up!! It was never so when I joined steemit years ago!

 4 months ago (edited)

@sbamsoneu did you notice your upvote to mikitaly is more than 0.001? This means your upvote is important.
Now, you can say there's no need to give that upvote to someone bigger than you but there is since... these are the people you need to upvote you! How can they continue doing so if everyone stops upvoting them? And look at the upvote value you received back!

That means I’m now a baby whale.. 😊😊😊

Oh man, you little fish grew up sooo fast? I better see if you fit in here before you change into a fat whale!

😂 lol

Yes. There is something tangible behind the "words." That extra added umph... The more interactive the better. More Steem Power to you.
image.png

I try to answer to the question why you only give $0.001. Maybe it's your steem-power, maybe too little, but don't worry: I also was in the same situation, cause many power down. But I can't do with this money, I need it to sustain my household.

You mean to say with this that 0.001 is money and all those small votes make a big one or?

They can make a big one if there are too, too many of those small votes. Otherwise, it's not money (meaning money to be used to purchase our goods). In any way, I only tried to explain the possible reason why it exists so small votes.

The smaller you are the lower your vote but also aower SP affects it. But all those small votes can make a big one as well.

Yes, we can imagine thousands of small votes (even if it could be rare to happen).

But it is how Steemit should function.

Agreed with you @sbamsoneu on this

Upvoting is a spice of life on this Steemit platform.
It’s where the encouragement comes from.

Glad you asked this question will go through to see the answer to it cause I was still wondering the same since I have little steem power.

@el-nailul do you have the answer to this burning question?

Upvotes also give you the opportunity to earn more through curation rewards. However, one question I have always wanted to ask is whether people with little or no Steem power are entitled to curation rewards. I’ve noticed that when I upvote, I only give $0.001, which seems insignificant.

Yes, upvoting allows you to get curation rewards, the amount you will get varies depending on the steem power you have, the percentage of your voting power left, your upvote percentage, your timing of upvote (better from 4 minutes after the post is published up to 12 hours before payout), and also the payout of the post you upvote.

For example; if your 100% vote is only 0.001, when you upvote the bigger payout of the post, the value might be 0.004.

To check it you can use steemworld.org too.

It is my power in 100% power upvote

image.png

And it is what the post will get with my 90% upvote because the payout of the post is already big enough

image.png

it is a bit complicated algorism to explain, but it is exponentially calculated using arithmetic algorism by counting many factors as I mentioned above @wakeupkitty.pal

Thank you for explaining

This whole system of Steemit is ingenious. It lays the ground work for building something substantial for its users. It's like raining pennies from heaven. There's an old saying, "Don't give me credit. Give me cash." An upvote is actually measurable in cash. Everyone is giving everyone else cash and encouragement to produce more content. What a fantastic system. No big corporate commercials paying content creators. Just everyone helping everyone else. It's awesome. The wave of the future. Hopefully no surprises.. And Steemit survives to grow and expand.

Hi @jiva34, I really like the way you explain Steemit. I share your perspective. I've always tried to spread this message: the mutual support of users and communities is what makes the platform stronger and more independent. The key point is the spirit of collaboration. Of course, we’re all here to earn as well, but to do so, it's crucial to understand the mechanism that drives Steemit.

Wow
This view about upvoting say it all and I love this explanation. With upvoting people received help and also inspired to create more relevant content and that’s what makes Steemit awesome 🤩

Even better: no energy and money consuming to run after multinational publishing houses, used to purchase fame...

There's self publishing... Self editing and promoting included.

Not so sure it only takes 30 minutes it's the same with those forms asked to fill out; 10 minutes is always a few hours.

Yes, I remember similar services operating in Italy (for ex., the boopen of 20 years ago). The mishap in such cases is the marketing (it costs). Depending on the country where you live, especially a non-Anglo-Saxon country, selling copies could become a piper dream cause lack of culture. For ex., the average south European prefers to purchase a great name from an English Speaking developed country than to purchase the published book/e-book of his/her neighbour. In the past, I used a self-publishing service named Streetlib (at zero cost, as I only chose the e-option and the few copies sold where purchased by friends of my circle of acquaintances and from my local church). In addition, enough people in the north-western Italian area were losing their reading habit because their job were yet becoming so demanding they had no free time any more. Once arriving at home after work, their only desire was to go to bed as soon as possible and I can't blame them, obviously. I saw enough of my acquaintances dreaming to become poets and writers that failed cause the north-western Italian environment isn't suitable at all, less than you are Wilbur Smith...or pursue the very expensive alternative to invest in a massive marketing, travelling along all the country to reach each book fair, making promotion activity. If steemit existed during the times of my acquaintances, they could have pursued here their dreamed artistic career...here you don't need to physically travel here and there to become known. Here you don't spend a single penny on marketing, what I particularly appreciate❤️.

Ps.: in addition, in my current country, going traditional costs an arm and a leg, as you must be registered by the R.S.I. as a writer and consequently opening a compulsory professional and very expensive VAT...

I don't see Steemit as a place where you will be read. I doubt you will as a poet or writer. You might earn, I say might but we all know how hard that is.
A poet, a writer don't they feel the urge to write share thoughts and feelings? For that we need a platform of our own to be visible. We are not visible on Steemit but if we are lucky we are found in a heap of non relevant posts. Who will scroll through that?

I want to start a community for art - writers and more but the artists I know say there's no future for a community with that topic I disagree plus I think it's bad to say that at forehand without trying.
I believe there is. I also believe there's no need to be a big club hosting contests and dealing with moderators giving upvotes. We need to have a place, can upvote another and others and if curators are still around and notice one of us they find the rest all at one place.

Those contests once started to attract steemians to one's account, more followers and with that the hope for upvotes. Today the attract members who preferable give 10% to the community and the more active members the more Steemit benefits like the booming upvotes. Booming upvotes which are a benefit for administrators and moderators unless the community admin forbids it (only a few communities do so).
We have many self publisber also where you can hire and editor or someone promoting you (I talk about printed books) next to that ww have bol.com (once started as Books On Line) they work a bit similar like amazon.

With us for sure taxes will love to earn as well and arranging online via bol or amazon might be the easiest wat for them to earn. No idea how the other self publishers work.

Btw I can relay to being too exhausted to read a book, not many do, even1 page of the newspaper is too much.
All you do is crash. I know I did on Sunday after Saturday's work and arranging for the new work.. There were times I was afraid I wouldn't wake up on Monday morning to work.

Now off you go, take good care of your health and: write shorter comments... That field is good for 3-4 lines! 🙃🤗🍀♥️

Hiring editors in the case of self-publishing...another expense that could never be recovered, if the artists don't live in an Anglo-Saxon country. In the case of publishing with Amazon, you should sell during the first day, because your e-book becomes buried after 24 hours by the tons of other e-books that arrive in the first page, covering yours. To not talk about the compulsory special VAT to be opened first than withdraw from Amazon (the R.S.I. considers you a professional freelancer writer, especially in my current country). Here in steemit, for good or for bad, there is always the possibility to participate to contests and in such cases you'll be read (the Venezolanos Concurso de Arte y Escritura and the Italian Digitaly are 2 big examples) and also can win the contest. My police novel had also a few readers here and there, even out of contests. To not forget your Monkey Business contest too! Personally, I find it better than nothing. I don't bother if I don't have thousands of readers, as I'm having no expenses here, no losses🤗

I heard from a lady, Steemian, she had 3 accounts very active and published, what you have to do first is publishing some books (9000 or 12500 words) you can refer to that seems to work.

I also know someone who for a longer time gave away one free ebook per month. It was a way to attract customers.

It's cheaper to let some friends read and read your own text back after 1 day, next 3 days and one week later. Reading out loud helps as well.

Yes, I have heard too, but I live in a geographic area where people don't read even in their mother tongue...so imagine them reading in Spanish or Italian😂😂😂😂Here mobiles (games, movies, and similar) took also the place of books😂😂😂😂

Wow. Complicated. We just have a little fun on Steemit and write write write give and get upvotes. Yay!

That's the spirit let's do that. I'm working on a new community
SCB monkey business (Steemit Chat Box)
One post will be one topic to read, comment kr meant to find helpful links.

🤗♥️🍀

cc @pousinha

It's unlimited and wide open.. Run with it, yay

You made it clear and I truly hope everyone reads this and you will join the club of active upvoters! It's at times difficult to upvote as many different people (per week) but it's also a great method to find your way around and meet others and... receive upvotes back.
It's important we all understand that if we would upvote another there's no need to wait for a curator (SC) doing so.

A great day and happy writing.

The ancient comment section. A monkey leaps in. Ka-ching! Sound of an upvote.

Edit: Oh my bad, I thought I was supposed to write LESS than 25 words. Well, I keep talking then. Sometimes I wonder if I just continue to press buttons I'll eventually end up writing Shakespeare. You know, like that monkey business with the typewriters.

 4 months ago (edited)

Upvotes with you make a sound? If you receive them or if you give them 🤔 It sounds annoying if not disturbing if you do that 40 times or more per day. Are you?

Man, I wish I was getting 40 upvotes a day. Not complaining, just saying. That's one of those luxurious problems for the people down at the golf club. I'd let people ring my bell 24/7.

:-)

You can give 40 yourself. If 100 SP it's 20 of 100% - 40 of 50% and do on... If you give only 1%...

The question is if this is aboit giving a valuable upvote or having a high CSI and pretend you are supportive.

If you write 40 posts per day I can give you 40 upvotes, even 80 with both my accounts or 120 if my community votes too... I will be busy upvoting you the entire day.
Start writing!
...and we'll see my CSI is 0

Don't threaten me with a good time!!! :-)

But seriously, I barely understand the system as it is. I wasn't even aware something changes the more you upvote. Still a nice way to gauge how many people actually read your stuff, or like it rather.

Also I'm mostly just joking around, so I'm not trying to step on any toes intentionally. The post was more like a riff on a famous haiku about a frog jumping into a pond. Plop! Sound of the water. That said, I'm not the greatest of communicators. I'm not trying to coerce anybody, but I'm thankful for being engaged.

I feel like I'm writing myself into hole. Jeesh. By the way, I am actually working on something but it's not amazing.

You are not writing yourself in a hole. I like reading you, don't forget to tag me and keep an eye on SCB.

Joking around is fine with me it fights the boredom. My guess is we all, this platform, have to get used to the old fashioned writing style or straight forward.

Haiku, I believe it died and creative writing follows. ☹️

Kopie van Een subtitel toevoegen.jpg

I just upvoted manual and 2 if not 3 hours passed. It is time consuming.
Like adviced I switched off fanbases till steemit issues are solved.
Truthh is I have no time to read and comment and do this daily. The CSI is annoying it doesn't say if upvotes are used or not.
Folowing a trail? Whose and what posts am I upvoting? It beats me and I have no time to figure it out.
I understand we all should do our share to keep the place running and votes are free but my time isn't. So what should I do?
I work like this: If I join a contest I upvote. Some I know write good, others I like to support because I like them or what they are doing or because they work harder than they should. I don't invest much time in making friends, I post once or twice per week, upvote, try to be supportive but more isn't in it.
I have a job, I need to sleep and I have a life.
What is your solution? Mine is to ignore the CSI and upvote when I can. Sorry, if I always upvote the same but these are also Steemians no one seems to see.

@arjinarahman @grebmot @jeff-kubitz @httr4life @ibesso
@maarnio @frafiomatale

Now I understand the situation better. I plan to look into it more when I have the time, to figure out exactly what ‘disabling fanbases’ means (assuming I ever activated one in the first place). I wasn’t fully aware of what I was doing if I did. From what I gather, activating them must be quite convenient, so I’m interested in learning more.

Additionally, I’m curious about what ‘Trailing’ actually means. If I had understood it earlier, I probably would have done it willingly. Right now, I only know that I delegate to Upex, but I’m not sure if it has anything to do with this. As requested by the communities, I also delegate to the mentioned representatives.

Honestly, my CSI is almost always at 0; I only reached a value of 3 now that I’m on vacation, because I have more free time to dedicate to my blog and can enjoy what I love doing. If I haven’t activated any fanbase with what I’ve done so far, I’ll likely continue doing nothing and wait for the situation to calm down. In the meantime, it would be wise to educate myself on how to activate these functions when the situation is more stable and the issue is resolved.

Loading...
<div class=videos -justify">

that's new

You can have it see if you can manipulate it to add videos. Thanks.

Clear message, it's not different with me and it takes most of my time.
The only solutions are:

  1. Ignore CSI
  2. Randomly vote all Steemians in community A, next day B and so on and never twice the same person.

I saw newcomers and also high level do this, witnessesincluded with 1-3 % 🤔

Upvoting represents an opportunity: a lot of time, for both the giver and the recipient. Users who spent many hours, even entire days to publish a significant, meaningful post, are encouraged by upvotes. Obviously it gets impossible to read (and so upvote) every single post in each community we are in (the 24 hours of the day wouldn't be enough), but we try to do our best when a post or a comment catch our attention.

I invite my friend @stefano.massari

Absolutely, upvoting is a way to recognise and appreciate the effort put into creating meaningful content.
It's true that we can't read and upvote every post due to lack of time, but the important thing is to do our best to support the posts and comments that impress us.

Every upvote counts even low votes that add up to all other votes, so it contributes like the others to support a post.

The only thing is that we have to manage the distribution of our daily votes well so as not to lower our voting power too much.
But just keep an eye on SteemWorld and see how many votes we can give.😉

...as my dear old Toshiba collaborates😂😂😂😂

Upvoting is also a great way to promote yourself! I tell you how I work.
If I read a post I like I give an upvote same for comments. If I can't I forward it to my blog and try to do so later.
I work through my notifications and comments and upvote good comments (it turns out to be lower than when I give to a post but in my opinion, good comments should be rewarded).
Another time I check those who upvoted me and I upvote one of their posts. It depends on which one... but in most cases if I do not see an eyecatcher I take the one that is 6 days old (or even 7 and still a few hours till payout).

Yes, it's not easy to keep up with all the posts and comments one would like to vote for and especially to manage the power of one's vote, because if it goes down our vote is less valuable.

Also good to keep in mind. If it comes to it upvoting isn't easy.

Thank you. Your comment reminded me to invite a friend...

Upvoting is part of investing in Steemit but it isn't the only way to do this. There is so much more we can do!

What frequently is forgotten is that an upvote is also a way to say I care about what you wrote, I like your content, I support you to encourage you and with that single upvote you also promote yourself! It is not only a way to support, to keep the ingenious way Steemit operates run but you put a smile on someonce face and it's a way to make friends!
How cool is that?

SCB - Monkey Business is online

The idea is to keep it simple and share our Steemit lives (fun is welcome) in the comment section!

Upvoting can be seen or define from different angles. To me I see upvoting as an inspired tool to keep creating a unique content. upvoting shows that your post/writing has been seen, read and has help someone in one way or another. So the reader send a feedback through upvoting which comes with a token of appreciation.
And with upvoting you can tell how many people your post/writing reach hence makes upvoting important. So that the creator/writer can relate and work on the feedback (through the upvoting).

I see you upvote but your SP is 49! Perhaps it is wise to read what is written about how to upvote and a low SP. @mikitaly left some good info behind.
Imagine your upvote would be worth 0.04 at 100% what do you believe it would be if you keep upvoting? Do you have any idea how to keep your CSI high?

There's only ine way. Did you discover it?

Do you read each post you upvote?

Thanks for leaving your comment.

P. S. If you want to invite @owulama you should not use a space between the @ and username.

A warm regards to each and every one of my fellow steemians, hope you have a great day ahead.

Naturally just as the word sounds, to upvote something or someone simply means that you support or take sides with a particular person or that you are in agreement with w
That person says or is about to do.

Now the word upvote is commonly used in an online platforms especially like in steemit. And this is done simply by clicking on an upvote button, by doing this it simply means that you support or agree with the idea that person is giving in this post or comments.

Now in steemit one can either upvote ordinary or with money.

Why is it you upvote? Do you agree with what the author wrote? Did you read every word and thought about what's written?
We have to deal with CSI.. if you want to keep that high you can't if you always upvote the same great writers, those writing good content. I noticed if I do so even upvote 50 per day my CSI quickly drops. The only solution to get it up again is upvoting as many as possible for only a few %. I see people doing that even newbees. They have a CSI over 30 and give 0 of the 0 they have.
Is this supportive or is it more about own gain?

Wat if your SP is low.. <80 which is not desired by many communities (in the old days it was 70 and we see that same number still set in botsteem's settings if you set fanbases. Do you care about your SP or do you think: No way I want to give that upvote now? And if you decide not to, will you go back to support or forward that post to do so later?

If it comes to support there are many ways: commenting for example, tell the author you read and share your opnion/feeling/experience, forwarding the post so that author might be read by more Steemians, post the content on X, refer to it in your own article, we can indeed upvote and send steem, uvf, sbi or...

Are you using these options?

 4 months ago (edited)

Nice basic understanding. Upvotes are like investments. Steemit is something like a "cooperative" Everyone is an owner and everyone shares in the profit from the activities. Lot of potential. Let's hope this continues to grow.

Most important of all: let everyone do his share and not only grab and count on those few curators filling their pockets it's not the meaning of this platform. It's about investing. Investing in every meaning of the word!

Good one "Investing in every meaning of the word!" Touché..

Should count right? Time, writing, fantasy, thoughts shared it's part of investing and proof we care.

The new chatbox is online. I publish a topic later (or not).

No opinion you don't answer anyone? It's the way to engage and make friends. Who knows you even receive big upvotes.
