RE: Contest | 25-Word-Comment - Monkey Business | Upvote - 6 Steem
It's not my earnings that get lost but the one I vote on. I wonder why. At times I think that if I vote the upvote given by a bot or SC becomes less...
I delved into the topic of Reverse Auction. A little revision every now and then is good. When you've been on Steemit for so long you go into automatic and take everything for granted. I hope I can answer your question.
The Reverse Auction is a Steemit mechanism that, upon the publication of a post, starts a 7-day timer during which the rewards for content curation decrease progressively.
To maximize rewards, you should vote on posts that have been published for more than 5 minutes but less than 6 days and 12 hours.
At exactly 7 days, the post can no longer receive votes.
When you vote on a post that is already older than 6 days and 12 hours, the reward from the vote starts to decrease linearly.
This reduction affects both your curation rewards and those of the post's author.
This means that the effectiveness of your vote (in terms of rewards) decreases as you get closer to the 7-day limit.
Steemit's goal is to promote engagement with new content to keep the platform active and current.
Therefore, after 6 days and 12 hours, rewards start to decrease for both curators and the author.
This is because Steemit aims to discourage voting on posts that are already popular, thereby keeping the focus on fresh content.
To prevent superficial or automated voting and to promote quality, the system does not grant curation rewards within the first 5 minutes of a post's publication.
It is not my vote that is less but the earnings of those I vote on drop! Especially, if it comes to authors with a higher earning.
I notice this frequently happens if I vote on day 3-5. Coincedence?
I noticed that if I vote on a post on day 6 the vote is higher! If I do so on day 7 and the payout isn't reached the vote is still added!
Does this only happen if you are a small fish? Is the system wrong?
The automatic voting system always contained a time you can set when to vote! So4 or 5 minutes is possible.
I noticed in fanbases all big fish set up their own fanbase trail or xpilar did. I find it hard to believe they do not earn.
I also noticed in the new fanbases (botsteem) there's no possibility to set a time when to vote. The former one had it.
I can't find any rules either.
On a theoretical level, the things I explained to you apply.
Then if you noticed inconsistencies, you could turn to the Steemit team or the community Steemit Crypto Academy who deal with these very issues.
Voting depends on many factors, the percentage of VP available, how many votes the post has already received, how many votes from users with high SP, the precise moment you are in the Reverse Auction system.
The rewards start to decrease from day 6 and a half, so day 6 is like any other day.
The fact that you noticed that a decrease also happens on the 3rd or 5th day I cannot explain.
I don't think that the system is wrong but that there are many things that have to coincide with each other. It's all mathematics. It's blockchain.
It's clear that a small fish has very little voting power and it doesn't affect much when it curates, but you know that if a lot of small fish vote together the votes accumulate and the reward is more significant.
In my opinion, you have to ask the developers these questions. Maybe they will be able to give you more details.
I think this uestion is a good one to ask in SCB.
Comments given on earlier Monkey Business posts I will drop in SCB + tje link and invite those with knowledge if they can explain this. As long as if benefits the receiver or makes my vote higher I don't care. What you showed I remember from years ago.
♥️🍀
Of course, it's a good idea to start with this question in SCB.
Yes, invite as many developers and witnesses as possible.
Maybe we can find the right answer.😉
