We have reached 100 members in this here comics community! (that was fast) A community that adds quite a bit to the steemit platform in the form of fun content that normal human beings will find joy in...as opposed to oh...endless blogs about blockchains. cough cough.

SO, we shall have another contest/giveaway! Details after I show off some of my work.

As I mentioned last time, I take of freelance work from time to time. It's fun (sometimes) and less stressful than doing my own book ( sometimes)

previous blog with covers is at this link
https://steemit.com/hive-164671/@arseniclullaby/all-but-bloodshot-some-covers-i-did-for-valiant-comics-with-prelim-sketches

Valiant comics is a company I loved doing work for. The characters were fun, the guys running it were fun. I was a good time. Even is cases where we disagreed on things, it was a disagreement because we both cared about quality, and THAT is something I love.

I have two covers for you here, along with the different preliminary sketch choices I gave them.

First is XO Manowar. He is one of their crown jewel characters. An anchor for the whole comic line. So naturally I was stoked to do a cover. I did a bunch of sketches. and this was a case where...the phrase "less is more" came into play. A lot of these would have been great illustrations, but not good covers. Covers often work best when they are simple and just grab your eye.

They need to grab the eye of people not only looking at the book rack, but they are used in advertising online which means sometime they are small AF. So...less complicated is a good thing most times.

The only guidance they passed along was that OX would be fighting these blue giant aliens, or some smaller ones in armor. They gave me some reference pics of them and their ships and off I went...

Onto the next cover for a character called Ninjak... It's a cross between a super hero comic and a spy thriller. His adversary is often a woman with mental control over her hair. ( That's not the best description but It's been awhile, and I can't remember exactly the whole thing was...hey'''gimmie a break, you know how many comic books I've read?!)

Here's some choices I gave them...

They went with this one below ( which I can't find the preliminary sketch of...)

Again, your compositions are perfect. I love all of these!

Wow. Very cool covers. I never did freelance but I can see it's a lot of work. You had to do so many sample covers.

I liked 'the struggle' for the first cover. I'm always a fan of this kind of interlaced close combat scenes. But the final pick for the cover makes sense as it's clean and epic.

I just did my first post to the Comic community. Hopefully more to come soon. I'll start working on the next page of my comic tomorrow. ;-)
