INTRODUCTION

This article is to describe a few issues/challenges within Project.hope with proposed solutions to it. Please, do not resteem as I will share link to this post on an individual basis.

I'm hoping my suggestions will meet your support and understanding.

CHALLENGES

Problem 1: manual curation and bot

Project.hope as a community grew to the point, where voting power seems not to be enough to support all content creators with decent upvotes. Also the amount of publications posted daily is reaching 30-40 posts, which is way more than I ever planned and expected. This is making my daily work (manual curation) very time-consuming. And even with help coming from @josevas217 and @juanmolina, this process takes an enormous amount of time on a daily basis (upvotes from project.hope account, ph-support, our curation trail, tipu upvotes etc).

Solution 1:

Currently, we're working on two discord bots, build separately by two different developers. Both of them will serve a different purposes.

@ph-korea.bot (created by @jacobyu) will be hopefully deployed within few weeks and its main goal will be to support our manual curation within PH community. The goal is to ensure that this process isn't so time-consuming and is half-automated.

This bot will be placing upvotes on publications posted within PH community, always ensuring to upvote only those posts which were curated by one of the manual curators (currently: crypto.piotr, josevas217, juanmolina).

Problem 2: beneficiary and upvoting power

Perhaps by now, you've noticed that different users are setting up different beneficiaries to ph-fund. Some do 20%, others 25-30%, and several members are setting up a 50/50 reward split.
I would like to "standardize it", however asking anyone to increase beneficiary would be difficult, and asking others to lower it down would be kind of pointless. Right?

Solution 2:

Therefore, we've already implemented a strategy: we curate posts with voting power similar to the level of the beneficiary.

Example:
So if you set up 20%, then you can expect a 20% upvote
50% beneficiary = 50% upvote (which will actually bring you more rewards)

Ultimately, this curating process will be self-automated and conducted mainly by our discord bot (mentioned above). This should be simple to understand for everyone and quite straightforward.

Problem 3: to many posts to read and curate

As mentioned before, the amount of publications posted within PH on daily basis (especially on Steemit) is just too high for us to manage. My goal is to reach 20-25 posts daily, were at the moment we often reach 40 articles on daily basis. And many of those articles are being posted by people, who do not even bother to engage with others.

Solution 3:

I'm currently approaching one by one every passive author = all those members, who are only publishing within our community but do not invest much time into engaging in comment section and communicating with others.
My goal is to explain to them, that it is very difficult to build a community if its members would not be active. I'm making them understand, that I need to limit my level of support to a maximum of 1-2 posts weekly.

At the same time all those PH members, who are active and who invest their own time to read other authors' publications and comment on them - they will be "allowed" to post 3-4 times weekly. My goal is to promote those who are active, without completely abandoning those who do not have enough time to be engaging.

This will allow me to reduce the usage of voting power on publications posted by non-engaging members, which in return will allow me to increase support towards active users. And the number of publications posted within PH should decrease (hopefully to 20-25 posts daily maximum).

Problem 4: Small medical expenses

Many of our members are living in countries struggling with their economy (mostly Venezuela, but also some African countries and parts of India). Many of them do not have much savings and medical insurance. Which can be an issue.

Sometimes I receive requests to support someone with a few USD, which would be used to cover basic medical expenses. I often support those PH members who are in need, asking them to pay back by being extra engaging and supportive towards others from our community.

Solution 4:

After few discussions with @josevas217, we've come to an agreement to create @ph-emergencyfund on Steemit. At the end of each month, I will be transferring 3-5% of all received beneficiaries to this account and we will use those funds whenever it is necessary.

Jose will manage this fund and in order to receive some extra financial support (to cover medical expenses), our members will have to contact him directly.
It is worth to mention, that Jose is a doctor, with proper education. He already suggested that he will share his knowledge (in form of consultations) whenever necessary.

Important:
access to support from ph-emergencyfund will be limited only to PH CORE TEAM members, who also share 50/50 reward split on their posts. It's an additional way to encourage our most loyal members to set up 50% beneficiary to ph-fund.

SUMMARIZE:

Curation within the community will soon become self-automated.
I would like to encourage all of you to set up 50/50 reward split on both chains. Hopefully, by now I proved, that I use those funds wisely to constantly grow our Project.hope community.
We will reduce the level of support towards non-engaging authors and focus even more on active members.
Those of you, who will be part of the core team will also be supported financially in case of some unexpected medical expenses.

SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK

I would appreciate it if you would read this post carefully and share your feedback. This topic has been discussed already with a few of our core team members. However, I would like to know if others would understand and support those suggested solutions.

These solutions you stated here are very welcomed.
I also agree that making the curation process automated (using bots) will be good to ease up on the time it takes to curate. Nice one.

I have a question: for people that put different beneficiary rewards in different chains (Like 50% in hive chain and 30% in steem chain) for the same post, will the bot separate the voting powers in both chains or will it work only when both chains are fixed to the same beneficiary rewards? Hope my question is sane? :)

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts @samminator

Answering your question:

for people that put different beneficiary rewards in different chains (Like 50% in hive chain and 30% in steem chain) for the same post, will the bot separate the voting powers in both chains or will it work only when both chains are fixed to the same beneficiary rewards? Hope my question is sane? :)

I believe your question is indeed sane. And valid :)

Basically, this bot will take into consideration level of beneficiary and will upvote posts with % similar to it (but only if such a post has been upvoted by one of our 3 curators mentioned in the post).

So if you would place 50% on hive, and 30% on steemit -> then you can excpect to receive 50% upvote on hive and 30% on steemit.

On top of that tipu upvotes (we manage 3x tipu curating accounts) will be placed on posts with 50/50 reward split. As extra bonus :)

Hope my answer was sane? :)

Cheers, Piotr

Thanks for the explanation buddy. Sure, your answer is very sane :)

I see the automatisation of curating a big improvement for the project. It is very time consuming to read posts and it can be quite frustrating, especially when people don't even answer the comments on their own posts.

This will probably free up some time for further developments for you and for other core members.

I think it's a great idea to create this emergency fund and hopefully Jose will manage to avoid situations where people try to abuse it.

Best regards,

Achim

I'm so glad to have you onboard on all those changes @achim03 :)

This is great. Making the curation self automated will definitely reduce the stress and workload just as you say and also make sure that all post are curated depending on what they deserve. Deserve in the amount of beneficiary percentage they set which is also great.

And also about the new emergency fund account, it is great as it will help people in solving their medical expenses.

I believe as time goes on , people will begin to see the importance attached to been engaging and active on the community instead of just posting

You are right. This is pretty great and projecthope community is really moving towards a positive direction. This is great to hear

This is good for the system, the bot is going to help make the system of voting much more easy and convenient and there will be proper distribution of power.

Greetings friend @crypto.piotr. I consider the automation of the curation process something positive, as long as it helps them to perform better this task any tool is welcome. I also consider it logical to provide more support for the most committed members, this reinforces their commitment and perhaps encourages the less committed ones to do better. And undoubtedly a medical expenses program is an excellent idea, I do not think there is another similar initiative on the platform, that speaks of the interest in the welfare of the members of the community, @josevas217 as a doctor will know how to manage and establish the criteria for the management of these resources.

Hi @coach.piotr, I particularly have no doubts in the good management of funds on your part. If it were not for your good management, this project would not benefit as many people as it does.
Automating processes is something really necessary, luckily you have managed to contact good programmers who will facilitate processes with these automations.
It seems logical to me that those who are more active within the community are the ones who receive more support from the curation, because it is evident that there are people who are only dedicated to publish and there is not a single comment from them in the community, we have already been able to make analysis of that too, people who do not leave a comment for months.
The program to support medical expenses is a good idea, I also know that many are in trouble at the time of presenting some emergency medical problem, but it is good to note that it is logical to place the 50/50 of beneficiary, to increase the fund of this project.
We are doing well.

Hopefully most our PH members will see things the way we do @josevas217

Perhaps someone will bring fresh view, from outside-the-box.

Cheers buddy, Piotr

A very good solutions to the problems listed. Great job everyone.

Every day, my admiration and respect for those folks behind this community increases.
Very fair solutions to realistic problems.
I like auto bot of curating idea which will save tons of time for you and other core members.

Appreciate this seriousness and honesty in work :))

Glad to hear your encouraging comment @qsyal

The reason I decided to commit myself to Project-hope is simply this. Having a good leader who has the interest of everybody at heart is hard to find, @crypto.piotr has proven to be the leader who values his members. This post is not to glorify him but I will say everything said here is awesome but the question is, are we going to be using same bot for the two platform or same platform. And just like what @samminator said, for those that sets 30% on steemit and 50% on hive, how are we going to be doing it?

Thank you for your kind and encouraging comment @tfame3865

I truly appreciate

To answer your question, please allow me to repeat what I just wrote to samminator:

Basically, this bot will take into consideration level of beneficiary and will upvote posts with % similar to it (but only if such a post has been upvoted by one of our 3 curators mentioned in the post).

So if you would place 50% on hive, and 30% on steemit -> then you can excpect to receive 50% upvote on hive and 30% on steemit.

On top of that tipu upvotes (we manage 3x tipu curating accounts) will be placed on posts with 50/50 reward split. As extra bonus :)

Hope I answered your question?

Yours, Piotr

This is awesome. Project hope is the best community ever.
