RE: Yea the economy is fine, nothing to see here
Few businesses have been hurt more than airlines by the pandemic, as people around the entire world quite literally stopped travelling overnight, with an estimated loss that exceeded 90% in several cases. The other example that comes to my mind for being hit with quite the same severity is the hospitality sector (hotels, restaurants and bars).
Politicians obviously take these hard times of disgrace as yet another instrument to push their agenda, where oppositions parties are blaming the current governments for their inability (nevermind what could possibly have been done, or what those same opposition would have done instead). I have seen very few and far apart examples of politicians exposing a responsible behaviour: it's just so much easier to rally public opinion as that is the low hanging fruit and fits well for shifting votes.
