Hello my dear Steemians and Art Fans,

Today I wanted to bring this case up and to ask your opinion where do you think the origin of multiple cases of Plagiarism. Once again we saw a newbie who posted in our community of “World of Xpilar” and of course it was a photo that the user have taken from Internet.

Is the user a Plagiarist and Abuser?

Or is the user just a newbie who was not correctly educated by the time of the recruitment?

@jemilatu

Let’s start from beginning, the user is @jemilatu and here is her Achievement 1- Introduction. The user is just started her blog.

image.png

This user was recruited by @mukka, who posted that in her post and also won first place in the contest of @promosteem.com

Weekly Inviting Contest Week #7 [4] New User Join Steemit: By @mukka

This is the Winner announcement post by @promosteem.com

image.png

Up to this stage @promosteem.com was seen and supported by SC01, @mukka has won first place in contest and won 15 Steem

But who suffers at the end Newbees. Why and How, let’s look in more details.

Deception case1: @jemilatu in WOX, that was detected and addressed:

The user after her first post was just let into Big World of Steem blockchain, so what kind of posts the user is posting?

Let’s start from the last one that we have noticed yesterday while curating the users from “World of Xpilar” this user posted this post to @axeman’s contest:

image.png

While being curators for last few years we can recognize immediately where is the work of professional Photogrpaher and that one was definitely done by one of htem. It was easily found in Internet in multiple different sites. Therefore using @art-venture account that we use for Visual Art curation, we left this comment, it is gently reminder and we have received reply back. Reading that I had an impression that the user had no idea that it is not allowed to post the property from Internet, especially if those are under copyright protection:

image.png

After that the user deleted the content and replaced it today.

But when yesterday we re looking through the other posts, we were shocked to see how many posts of this user are taken from Internet and actually they are all plagiarism posts.

Deception case-2: @jemilatu in Steem Skillshare Community

Here is the post that according the user had her poetry

image.png

We were upset to see that this was not a truth:

image.png

image.png

For this Plagiarism post the user won the Second place in that contest:

image.png

Here is the announcement post done by the moderator of “Steem Skillshare” community @abu8

image.png

What is the reaction of the user?

image.png

Such behavior of Moderators of the Communities will only encourage the users deceive and continue Plagiarism.

Deception case-3: @jemilatu in “SteemWomen Club” Community

Deception case-5: @jemilatu in “Steem-BRU” Community

What do you think is it written by the user? Of course, not!

@steemcurator01 and the Steemit Team

While having such large community of users we still working hard to guide newcomers and teach them, like @bambuka who is 14 days take the newcomers under his care, he is guiding, teaching and letting them know what they should and should not do.

All our moderators are actively checking any suspicious posts and since @the-gorilla is a part of our team he is taking further the cases.

This user @jemilatu had been posting Plagiarism in many communities:

  • “Steem Skillshare” Community
  • “SteemWomen Club” Community
  • “Steem Argentina” Community
  • “Steem-BRU” Community

but only in WOX Community this user’s post was detected and addressed.

The responsibility of Moderators of any community should be to keep an eye on the users who they recruited and make sure that they are keeping well and doing right things. Nobody would like be blamed for something that he did without knowing that it is allowed or not. It is bad start.

The same with organizers of contests they should check the posts for Plagiarism before rewarding them with Prizes.

As always, faithfully yours we are Guardians of steem,

Some thoughts on this...: It sometimes seems easy to use a poor, perhaps even uneducated background or simply novelty on the platform as a defence and excuse for plagiarism. Not just for the people themselves who post other people's content. No, also for us. We don't want to come across as harsh and nasty. We don't want to demonstrate superiority. But: that intellectual property is also property and not simply up for disposition and misuse should be familiar, regardless of academic experience or "guiding culture". It happened to me in earlier years that I published poems in magazines and later found them as song lyrics of not so unknown bands. None of them could convince me that they didn't KNOW that it wasn't right to simply make use of other people's material. Anyone who introduces himself as a student at the University of Developmental Sciences also knows the principles of scientific work and accuracy, knows citation rules and what copyright is. We should say goodbye to the image of the poor, backward Third World country that we have to treat with indulgence and understanding: Africa, Asia, South America - all these regions are today in parts even more advanced than we are and have excellent educational standards. Outstanding personalities in art, politics and science. If we disregard this, they can continue to profit from foreign ideas and make their beds comfortably...

Hi @weisser-rabe thank you for your detailed comment, I absolutely agree with you and support your opinion. I am sorry to hear about the case that you have had. In fact when such intellectual property stolen it is even bitter because it is difficult to prove that it is yours and you thought our first.

The people everywhere should be honest with each other and respect the property of others.

Nowadays on this blockchain there are many opportunities to be seen and to get rewarded for honest and quality works. But as everywhere people should deserve a good reputation and then it is easy. Many users do not understand that they simply spoil the reputation of their own country and put off the curators who will just avoid users from those countries.

I was very pleased to hear your opinion and thank you for such comprehensive comment.

Totally agree with you.

Thanks - and sorry for long text to all... It's a hot topic for me.

I think this user is a plagiarist. Even a child understands that one cannot take anything else. And he, as I understand it, did it deliberately. He knows how to participate in competitions, but he does not know what to copy. Here it suggests a certain idea.

Don’t ever say what you don’t know.. I never did anything deliberately..
So please don’t insult me..

I'm not insulting you, I just know what you will do. I am 100% sure. You will close this account and create a new account. You will also start plagiarizing on your new account. But you will be counted again.

You should know how and when to talk to people..
And what will interest me in creating a new one..be polite cuz you don’t know me..I blame my self for joining this community not your fault

 3 years ago (edited)

Well then why don't you leave. Do you answer? You think that everything will just work out for you. And you will be interested in greed and money.

It is just difficult to understand what you thought presenting the property of others as yours if it was not deliberately then has anyone made you to do so?

Am sorry for that okay..
Will never happen again can you please remove that name you attached to my posts..
Will not post anything again..I will also like to know how I can delete this account

Hi, that was not me who put that label and this is seen only if you posted in our community. The account is not possible to delete, it is once created it will be there.

But you can improve yourself, just show that you are honest and doing right thing. Probably do the post about the mistake so that people know that.

Looking through the blog everyone will get such impression because it is build up on lies. I do not know if the user or maybe the person who brought that user on Steem blockchain taught her to do so, we will never will know that.

Don’t drag that person’s name bcuz she never knew..
Neither did she taught me this..
I was happy to join and now I happy to leave again so please if you don’t mind stop dragging me here..

Agree. There are so many mosheinikos on this site. We must constantly keep our ears open.

Hi @crismaidel, thank you for taking time and joining our discussion. It is a hot topic and many users like yourself may find their own posts posted under other accounts as their own. I know how frustrated it is as I am myself was a victim of such case when my post was copied and posted by another user, but also when my whole blog was copied and posted by other user. I felt horrible because I could not do anything against.

Therefore, we all have to be very careful and make sure if we see anything suspicious then ask.but not just look away. Appreciate for your opinion :)

I just saw her reply to this post and I am seriously embarrassed. She is apologising for joining and that she is quiting the platform. Being able to take corrections and applying the corrections shows remorse and also shows the earnest desire to do better. It is very embarrassing that she, instead of promising to make amends and also asking for a way to put back things together is just quitting! Maybe we should create a community to put plagiarist who are willing to repent, teach and nurture them so they can come back anew. That is if such a platform isn't there already.

Stef and the entire world of xpilar MODs are doing a wonderful job. Thank you for exposing these lies

I am actually sorry..never new it was wrong..
But am actually not interested any more that’s why am leaving not just because of this..thank you

It's ok. But consider this as an opportunity to learn. Quitting may not really be a good option for you. I have learnt a lot here and I believe you can learn something valuable too as well. All the best

Thank you @unyimeetuk for your valuable comment. I completely agree that the attitude of person should be different. We all might on and off have done mistakes. The most difficult thing is to admit that mistake and correct. Of course to rebuild the reputation is a hard job but possible.

When I think about old Steem/it time and such users like @jaguar.force, you might remember him he was very aggressive in his hunt in compare to that what we are doing is nothing.

As always, it is a pleasure to have you in our discussion :)

Yes rebuilding the reputation is going to be hard but isn't possible. I just hope she finds this as an avenue to learn and understand the importance of etiquette

Hello dear friend @ stef1 good day

Excellent your investigation work, how good it is to have you in our company (Steemit), you do an extraordinary job making the offenders known

I admire the commitment and dedication. Congratulations dear friend
I wish you a great day

Thank you @jlufer for your supportive words towards our work. It is really good to show that we are all united and we are against abuse on Steem blockchain. I am wishing you too nice weekend :)

That is right someone who is not caught will continue doing that. It is the same like in our real life and that is simply a human nature. But despite of that we are still different otherwise the world would be really grim. Thank you for stopping by and your valuable comment :)

Gracias a ti amigo @stef1 por tu valiosa contribución

Very well investigated, thank you on behalf of the genuine artists and creators on the platform!

Thank you Damian for stopping by and for your supportive words towards the work we do. We try to keep our Community and Steem clean. It is not easy as there are many new users joining on daily basis, some of them honest some decide to go easy way. But we will keep working and curating :)

 3 years ago (edited)

It is wonderful to see someone still cares about that. Plagiarism and spamming is a massive issue on Steemit lately. Hopefully that gets taken care of.
Keep it up!
By the way, I see a typo in my Xpilar label :)

Totalmente de acuerdo contigo

Thank you @marcotatuajes for supportive our work and glad that you share our opinion :)

Thank you for the link to this post, @stef1. As someone who is new to the world of blockchains and even online communities in general, it is fascinating to see how people organize and curate these spaces.

In truth, due to my lack of experience with this platform, I am not sure I can assess or judge every aspect of this episode. But I can tell you and the other curators really care about this group, and I do appreciate your efforts to maintain the high quality of its content.

Hi John Michael, I know that sometimes people get so overwhelmed with everything that are happening on such blockchain but it is very simple like blog and blogging. Luckily we know many people around and that creates a good circle of friends discussing various topics.

Hope soon you also will feel yourself free and comfortable in such busy place, greetings @stef1 adn our project @art-venture :)

Thank you. I feel welcomed here, and you all are very helpful. Much appreciated.

Thank you for this again @stef1.

@abu78 @milakz @olesia @knopka145 @alexmove @fendit @belenguerra @svm038 @saracampero @ngoenyi

Please take note of this post from @stef1.

There is still more work to be done in your communities to detect plagiarism.

Thank you for letting the other communities know. I hope that our community work will demonstrate how the the process of fighting Plagiarism works despite of having the largest community on Steemit and many contests running every day, we are managing to identify such abusers in time.

I am thankful for all our Moderators and @xpilar because each of us does check for plagiarism in their own contests, field. I agree it is hard job but if we would like to support those who really deserve and not those who decided to go an easy way we must be committed to our responsibilities.

As to the user who is displayed int his post and who received Prize of 7 Steem for stolen poetry, if it would be our community we would advice the user to return the Prize and to give it to someone else who deserved. I do not think it happened and the user has not been contacted by @abu78.

On other hand it is interesting to see that people organizing contest but because it is need to be checked for plagiarism now stopping. That was a screenshot that was placed by Mila but then removed

@abu78 @milakz - will you be asking for the 7 STEEM prize to be returned?

Yes, we will for sure!

Yes sir I have done that. I hope to receive the rewards soon.

Thank you so much for commenting about our moderator work. @abu is a new moderator and a student without expertise in our team. He is still learning how to manage content for contests. I just suggested for him to do something where he can easily see if it's plagiarism.

Hi @steemcurator01 unfortunately there is another user who is Plagiarized the content and highlighted in this post

https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@stef1/fighting-abuse-on-steem-plagiarism-by-quanbriel-why-people-choose-this-way

While creating my post, I noticed that @yohan2on already upvoted this post with SC04.

Once again, it highlighted that the Moderators of other Communities are not checking for plagiarism. I do not know how we can improve it but this is not correct.
image.png

Thanks for the information.
@slon21veka pay particular attention to plagiarism testing!

@steemcurator01

Thank you, I analyze posts in my Rank Post every day

I will now analyze posts for plagiarism

Hello thank you very much for the mention and congratulations to the great @stef1 as always for his great work. I will make an effort to be more careful and review the posts of other language, since I am only covering the posts of users from my language and/or country. However, I will be more vigilant so that this does not happen even outside my coverage.

@steemcurator01, Thanks for the mention. We are checking. I hope the author will correct the post, otherwise it will be deprived of payments.

Thank you for mentioning! We will work hard on Plagiarism.
We also already talked with @abu78 about poetry contest that is discussed in the post. We will make more announcements for plagiarism on Steem SkillShare

Thanks so much @steemcurator01 for bringing our awareness on this we would work hard on that.

Thank you so much @steemcurator01 for the mention. Much work really needs to be done to arrest this cases of plagiarism.

I am grateful to @stef1 for always fishing these offenders out.

I will be more vigilant, I promise. These imposter are impossible.

Of course dear @steemcurator01, we'll pay more attention. We are making hard work there.
