Visiting St. Andrews Castle: underground siege mine
There are many historical heritage around in Scotland, almost every city has something special, unfortunately, many were destroyed during different conflicts and majority was left as they are. I believe the restoration is very expensive and also it might require skilful people to recreate the scene as in the past.
When we were in St. Andrews we have noticed this ruin, because of massive stone walls there is still some part of building that could be recognised. Being very curious we decided to visit it. Before entering it is a little souvenir and ticket shop, people were very nice and polite so that we were told where we can go and what we can do and what to avoid. Luckily it was not crowded so we had a good time to look around.
Look at this massive stones, they survive invaders, battles and few of their hosts. First of all we went around the building and visited all the possible places on the surface. Unfortunately there is no rooms as such. What we thought while being on one of the viewing platform that it would be good to have a cafe there so that visitors could sit and enjoy that view with their cup of coffee and snacks.
When we were told about this underground tunnel we immediately agreed to try and to check how it is. The funny thing was the temperature difference. Outside it was +19C but underground was cool do not know exact temperature though.
Here is the space that was initially quite spacious so that a person could stand up and you can see that there is light bulbs there that make it not so scary to go down into tunnel.
By the end of the tunnel it was a bling end I wonder if they closed the tunnel maybe it was not stable but maybe it was a secret tunnel.
We had a nice trip through the tunnel system, it was like time travel. We had a nice time and hope you also enjoyed hte trip.

Are there no skeletons in the dungeons anymore?
No, not with us, maybe were already removed :)
Maybe you should look better? They are walled up in the walls! 🤣
These are very cool photos. I loved visiting castles when I was in Europe…Germany and the UK.
I am still in search of some forgotten treasure in such places, maybe need to buy a castle first in order to check with metal detector if there is anything in the ground :)
