Hello Steem Community! 🌟

The discussion about AI and feedback that you all have given, I will no longer think about using AI in comments.

As for @upex and @steem.botto, there will now only be an advertisement for posts that are upvoted by @upex and @steem.botto

The WOX community will continue as before if you still want me to continue with it

Thanks for all the feedback

We're excited to introduce a new initiative aimed at boosting community engagement and enhancing the Steem blockchain's utilization. By leveraging AI-generated comments and replies, we're taking proactive steps to create a more vibrant and interactive ecosystem for all our members.

🔍 What’s Happening?

AI-Generated Comments: We're utilizing advanced AI tools through @upex and @steem.botto to generate meaningful and engaging comments on selected posts. These accounts are programmed to interact only with predefined posts where they are set to UPVOTE, ensuring that our interactions are both relevant and valuable.

AI-Powered Replies: To further amplify engagement, our AI will also generate replies to any responses these AI comments receive. This creates a dynamic conversation flow, fostering a more interactive and lively community environment.

Increasing Reported TPS: Our bots are adding more transactions by generating these comments and replies, which increases the reported Transactions Per Second (TPS) on the Steem blockchain. This approach provides valuable insights into how transaction volumes can be influenced through automated interactions.

We continue to be ever more disappointed.

The reasoning behind the so-called benefits of these AI generated comments is flawed as highlighted by @the-gorilla.

If AI comments have the benefits suggested, then would AI generated posts have largely the same benefits?

Where would we go from there...

If you do want to continue with your 'experiments' we strongly suggest you contain them solely within the World of Xpilai community.

Use of the comments anywhere else should be only on an opt-in basis.

People can then choose if they want to participate, and we can adjust our curation guidelines accordingly.

We assume also that all AI comments will have their rewards set 100% to @null so you are not seen to be profiting from AI.

Did you not read my comment before writing your comment

It would be very useful therefore if you edited the post above to reflect your decision.

Thanks for all the feedback

Nur mal so ,die Standardkommentare der Kurator Accounts sind auch nicht viel besser ! Viele sehen das als Spam , diese Kommentare geben dir keine Sicherheit welcher Kurator wo ein Vote abgegeben hat

I come here to talk to REAL people not AI, in fact some could see these comments as spam and act accordingly 🚩

Cant see how this helps Steemit in anyway.

AI is coming everywhere and we in steem should be at the forefront of how AI can be used sensibly

I completely understand the concerns about AI taking over conversations, but I believe AI can actually help in a lot of ways too. AI can serve as a conversation starter, helping to spark discussions where there might be silence or overlooked posts. It's not about replacing human interaction but offering prompts and insights that could lead to deeper, more meaningful exchanges between real people.

That being said, balance is key. AI should never be the main voice of the platform, but it can complement human interaction by providing ideas, perspectives, or even just keeping threads alive. It’s all about finding a way for AI to enhance, not disrupt, the unique community we have here.

I’m curious to see how this evolves, and I believe AI could have its place, as long as it's used with care. Let’s keep the conversation going and figure out the best way to integrate it! This is also AI written , because i have language barrier and AI is better at translating and adding more insights

I simply don't know how to express my astonishment at your continuation with AI generated comments.

This platform is based upon the fundamental concept of human interactions, without which, Steemit will be nothing.

You're a Top 20 Witness with the responsibility of shaping the future of Steemit.

You have been an inspiration for many and as such, what happens if the many follow your lead? How deep will the AI cycle of comments from this account go when AI meets AI?

As I've written on Discord, I'm quite simply speechless. And immensly disappointed. I simply don't have the words to express my feelings right now.

I'm very close to feeling the same... on the other hand, I also fear that AI is pretty much inevitable and will increasingly infiltrate the social web.

As such, maybe it behooves us to at least have this discussion and use it as a path towards some kind of consensus, rather than having to (later on) battle various forms of AI that arrives in a far more "stealth" fashion.

Which is to say, at the very least we need to create some kind of ruleset that addresses AI... because I believe it IS inevitable, and it is going to get more and more polished with time.

I don't claim to have any answers, and I'll add that it does sadden and disappoint me that we have reached this juncture.

I understand that you are thinking in those terms now, but I want us to discuss the use of AI. The discussion from the last time was not to shed light on AI, but how it ended up wrong with mass broadcasts

The intention behind leveraging AI here is to enhance engagement, not replace or diminish the value of human connection. However, I completely recognize the slippery slope that AI interaction can create if not carefully managed, especially when it risks leading to conversations between AI and AI rather than fostering real, meaningful discourse

There will also be a permanent question in the back of my mind now - “did @xpilar write this or did AI?”

One problem here is that “leveraging Ai” through comment is that it does replace human interaction - intentionally or not.

Instead of manually reading and curating posts, AI will be doing it. Will your vote and comment also trigger the WOX curation trail? How will these AI votes and comments distinguish between human posts and AI written posts? How will it spot plagiarised and copyrighted images? What’s preventing it from becoming another #krsuccess challenge to “crack the code” and earn more auto votes?

No matter how I look at this, no matter what the angle, I simply can’t see how this is beneficial or an enhancement to the blockchain. As you say, it’s a slippery slope which others will be inspired to follow - especially if this leads to an increase in rewards and witness ranking for this account.

I know that I can’t stop this from happening and I know that you know me well enough to understand my feelings and the strength of them - perhaps more black and white than others will feel.

Phew, that's a relief! ❤️

The WOX community will continue as before if you still want me to continue with it

Absolutely, no doubt about it! We want you to continue with WOX—there's simply no other way around it.

It's clear that your intentions were not ill. In fact, you gave careful thought to introducing a new idea and its implementation, which deserves praise. Taking such a bold step was commendable when you knew that you would be met with such resistance, and even more so was your decision to reconsider out of respect for your users' preferences.

Your valuable service to this community and ecosystem cannot be overlooked just because you dared to think outside the box :)))

More power to you @xpilar

Thank you for reconsidering your decision and for choosing community. We are one of the oldest community and also oldest friends, that is why we need to act as adults, it is wise decision and as mentioned to you before, having e same goal we should continue our work together.

We are pleased that this discussion has brought to light the good and bad possibilities of introducing AI on Steem. WOX is a very important project for us, and we want innovation to continue, allowing you to grow even further! Don’t abandon the idea of AI completely — this technology is everywhere now and will become even more prominent in the future. We just need to find a proper way to use it on Steem, in a manner that is both useful and aligned with the core principles of Steem, without abuse.

We would like to thank all the honorable members of Steem who contributed valuable opinions to this discussion: @steemchiller @the-gorilla @denmarkguy @stef1 @steemcurator01 @xpilar

We are happy to have been involved in this debate, and we hope to contribute even more with our vision in the future.

Cur8 team

Thanks for the update. I understand your decision regarding the use of AI in comments.

Yes, we definitely want you to continue with the WOX community. Looking forward to more great things ahead!

Wise decision 👍

After seeing this post yesterday in the evening when it was already 6 hours old I was surprised that so short after the first wave of discussion that happened recently due to AI comments spreading all over and that caused downvotes and a big debate around the issues, which seems to be starting to settle. I could not believe that this is serious and it is not a joke, but then if it is a joke then it would be a stupid joke.

I do not write here much, because those of you who read my post and reaction to AI comments should know, that I am not supporting this action with AI generated comments.

While reading this post I also do not think that AI comments and replies and so called "fake traffic" will maybe mimic activity but what will happen to real users. I do not think that users will be happy to exchange comments with AI.

If someone wants to test AI activities why not to create a test platform, if there are so good developers then it should not be a problem to create that on Steem blockchain and not on Steemit platform

There is nothing else, that I could tell for this topic.

Greetings from Nigeria, his idea isn't really appropriate and I agree with your statement about him creating a testing platform to test his AI comment activities.

AI shouldn't be used to replace human beings, when AI came into existence not long ago, I had a feeling that the disadvantage might be more than the advantage because these days human beings are lazy, machines and robots are in companies doing alot of work human beings are supposed to do and now AI came into existence to make things more worst.

The idea of xpilar making AI comments to boost the engagement rate of this platform isn't a positive one at all, AI is now getting rampard, I agree with steemcurator01 who said that the AI posts should be set 100% to null if xpilar intentions isn't to generate profit.

I came across the wrangle of AI comments and backlash from the community. I didn't say anything then but I did follow the discussion.

I can't wrap my head around how AI-generated comments can make this community lively. Where is PoB?

I'm already feeling weird writing this comment to an AI-generated post whose reply could be from AI too. That doesn't feel right. That's certainly not what made me stick to this platform for years. It has always been real connection with real people.

Increased TPS, what? I don't want to read a reply to my heartfelt post from a soulless bot who pretends to have a heart.

I mean no offence. My comment seems harsh but these are just my raw thoughts. I respect and acknowledge all your contributions to the platform, especially World of Xpilar. But this... I'm not sure, even if it's for selected posts.

I will follow up on your comments, maybe then it will make some sense to me.

Good luck!

I will follow up on your comments, maybe then it will make some sense to me.

Yes, I will do so too. I second every word of yours @event-horizon

i also followed this discussion a little, but I am not fully understanding it. How exactly is it useful for the ecosystem? I don't see AI as harmful, but I definitely don't like it in this context... Especially auto-generated comments... I mean, it's not even the person using AI, it's the bot using AI. I'll have to follow the discussion more closely to gain better understanding. And as event-horizon said, we fully acknowledge and appreciate your efforts.

🤞🏻

I'm also not against AI and wouldn't mind a controlled and thoughtful inclusion where needed, keeping engagement organic.

What I want is to discuss the use of AI. If we address this now, at an early stage, we can establish guidelines for its use. I am particularly focused on how AI is used in comments. @steemchiller has made some good points regarding the use of AI.

@soulfuldreamer @event-horizon

Thank you for your honest and heartfelt response. I completely understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate your willingness to share your raw thoughts. This discussion around AI-generated comments is a delicate one, especially when it challenges the core of what many love about Steemit—real connection with real people.

You’ve highlighted something crucial: the Proof of Brain (PoB) model, which thrives on genuine engagement. AI-generated comments can feel like a departure from that, especially when the beauty of this platform has always been about authentic human connection and interaction. I hear your concerns about replies that may feel “soulless,” and that's something that needs careful consideration as we explore the potential of AI without disrupting the fundamental values of this community.

The goal with AI was never to replace human interaction, but rather to augment it in a way that could help stimulate engagement on certain posts. I completely agree that it can’t substitute the real emotions, insights, and relationships that have always been Steemit’s strength. If AI ends up diluting the essence of this community, then we need to reevaluate its role here.

I respect your feedback, and it’s clear that this needs to be a more open discussion with the community as a whole. I’m committed to keeping this conversation going and ensuring that AI, if used, stays in line with the platform's core values.

Thanks again for your input, and I look forward to continuing the dialogue with everyone. 🙏 This is also AI written , because i have language barrier and AI is better at translating and adding more insights

First, I like this approach better, with an up-front discussion about the experiment you intend to pursue. So that's good!

Whereas I recognize that AI is likely here to stay, and will become increasingly enmeshed in the social web, I still have some reservations about its use in the context of a proof-of-brain community.

As @steemchiller points out, this might require some stringent testing and fine tuning.

My thought on anything AI on Steemit would be some very clear "marking," some of which might need to be written into the code base.... along with some fundamental rules for its usage.

For example, all AI comments might be shown on a pale grey background and marked as AI — much the same way "promoted content" is marked on other social sites. Next, it might behoove us to have — as a broad based community rule — that all comments/content deemed AI either will have all its rewards burned, or simply have an automatic "decline rewards" setting.

Where adjusting the code base comes into play would be in the form of adding an "option" of sorts for community members/curators to tag AI content as "AI" as a means to trap anything AI passed off as POB, whether deliberately or accidentally... maybe a little dropdown option that allows "mark as AI," or something.

I also agree with the sentiment that all AI generated comment systems should include an "opt out" option.

I admit that this new approach sounds like an idea we probably could experiment with. And it's good to have it all discussed here beforehand this time instead of just blindly replying to thousands of posts. Still, I have some questions/recommendations:

We're utilizing advanced AI tools through @upex and @steem.botto to generate meaningful and engaging comments on selected posts.

What does "selected posts" mean exactly? How will be determined that a post receives an AI comment? Wouldn't it make sense to have an extra account for this like "xpilar-ai" or so? The thing is, these comments need to be identifiable as AI-generated content in my opinion. Additionally, I would like to have a small text or image in the reply that clearly shows it has been artificially created.

Another idea would be to introduce a tag for this. Authors who used a specific tag in their post will receive the comment, for example.

Selected posts are those that today receive an upvote from @upex and @steem.botto The comments must match what is written in the post. And it should be a short comment
For those who do not wish to receive such comments, they should be given the opportunity to choose "turn off comments from AI"

The point is that these comments must be identifiable as AI-generated content in my opinion.

I completely agree, it should be stated in the comment that it is AI generated and with a small picture and text showing it.
Using a separate account like "xpilar-ai" can help identify AI-generated content, which is critical for transparency.

For example, authors who used a specific tag in their post will receive the comment.

That's a good idea

The selected posts are from those acount who we upvote , we have specific conditions that needs to be met and thus an upvote will be given , following the upvote a comment will be given letting the user know that we have voted , as they will be expecting it , we also plan something like !stop !noai or something that lets our bots know that the author is no more interested on the comments

hallo @xpilar.saksi

Glad to see you are back on your feet now, and I am very pleased with the progress of this collaboration, personally, I will help to monitor and review the performance of the AI Bot going forward, and this will certainly be very useful to ensure its benefits to the entire Steem ecosystem as you said. Seeing continued interaction can make newcomers feel welcome and more likely to join the conversation.

good luck there

Yes, AI is now present in many areas of today's technology, and its thoughtful use can, for example, assist new users. Imagine if we could use AI as a chat service to help new users and others with questions about Steem/Steemit.
