in WORLD OF XPILAR5 months ago

Time for another #SteemSilverRound for 2024, I think so
What do you think, do you want to own one or more silver myths marked with the steem community.

What do the steemit team and @steemcurator01 think about this idea and do they have any possibility to help with such a campaign?

Backed by the Community’s Leaders
The success of this initiative hinges on the support and endorsement of Steemit’s influential figures. With backing from prominent witnesses and key players like @xpilar, @steemit, @steemcurator1, and @steemcurator2, the project has a strong foundation to build upon. Eith @pennsif keeping steemians up to date with his #steemnews blog, it could be steemits biggest collaboration. These leaders can help spread the word and garner the necessary support to make the 2024 #SteemSilverRound a reality.

With my Norwegian team, we have already pre-ordered 16 silver coins

The Concept Behind SteemSilverRound 😊

SteemSilverRound represents a groundbreaking initiative that merges the digital realm of cryptocurrency with the tangible value of silver. At its core, SteemSilverRound involves the minting of physical silver rounds (coins) that are intricately designed and engraved with Steemit-themed artwork. These silver rounds serve as a unique representation of value, combining the intrinsic worth of precious metals with the innovative spirit of blockchain technology.

The project aims to create a tangible connection for Steemit users, allowing them to own a physical asset that embodies their engagement and contributions within the Steemit community. By holding a SteemSilverRound, users possess a piece of history that symbolizes the fusion of traditional and digital economies.

The idea was created by @sevinwilson for a commemorative silver coin that would embody the essence of #steemsilvergold. This 2017 winning design was created by the talented @bearone and was the start of the SteemSilverRound.

How many Rounds would need to be sold to make this project economically viable?

And how much would each Round cost on current silver prices?

Well thats the million dollar question isn't it @pennsif!! Things that wont change -

  • spot price of silver- we will have to pay what ever the current silver price is, plus the premiums associated on top.
  • The price to have the metal die stamp manufactred. We will have to pay for both the "new" design and the reverse. Now the #steemsilvergold community do own and have the original reverse die still, and weve used it for the 3 previous rounds. Id have to find out who has it, and then see if 1)they are still contactable 2)the die is still usable as the more you use them, the worse they give a clean press(bits break off/the stamp isnt perfect) 3)if the community is willing to support and give their blessing for the die to be used. We know a few went to the otherside(hive) after the split and cut all ties with steem/steemit.

Now heres the thing, the mintsge number is not as important as you might think. Obviously, a mint will make(charge us) more money the more we ask them to make, but then we can ask for a lower fee per round if we make more. The difference will be fractions of dollars per round, but add that up 1000, 1500, 2000 times and it makes a difference.

A massive hurdle will be - who pays the mint and how the mint wants to be paid..... im guessing everyone here will want to pay in steem??!!?? Are we foolish enough to belive a kint will accept the 431st listed crypto on coinmarketcap as payment? Someone will need to take "payments" in steem, convert to dollars, pay the mint and take any hit on the fluctuating prices if steem continues to drop like a stone. Which is why ive said that im happy to help the PLATFORM and @steemcurator/ @steemcurator2 @steemit or whocever is inchsrge to make, advertise and distribute, but my pockets arent deep enougg to take the risk at the moment!

Anyways, the point of this reply was to give ballpark figures and not write war and peace.lol

If we were to go with a lower mintage of say just 500, this would be a decent number for any micro-mint to happily produce for us, with current spot price, average premiums, labour costs, the cost of die manufacturing and material, I would expect to be paying **£38/$48usd/250 steem PER coin (plus P&P)

Its not cheap!!! Fundraising and help, as i said, from the platform itself could drastically reduce the costs, but thats something wed need to discuss in more depth to grt a better understanding.

If you want to setnup an advisory committee you can 100% count me in to help in anyway shape or form. In fact, ill run this idea by the community later today to het numbers and intrest. My gut feeling is that after the split steem/hive most have cutnALL tiesnwith thisbplatform and would NOT lend their support unfortunately

Thanks for the info, it seems not many are seeing the posts about the #SteemSilverRound. Seems like all local communities in steemit are busy with their own communities.
Maybe the steemit team and @steemcurator01 can include the information about #SteemSilverRound in their next post, we need to spread the information to everyone

Thank you for all the extra information and particularly the ballpark numbers.

250 STEEM per coin is not so difficult - but it might be a challenge to find that many individuals / communities to pitch in.

The initial logistics and funding may be the bigger hill to climb.

1000 coins is probably the starting point because they should not be too expensive per piece.
Hope that our expert @welshstacker can answer more about the costs for production and approx. what a coin will be priced at

You can count me in for at least 3 of them 👍🏻 😎

It's great @brian.rrr ,3 silver coins are noted 👍

This is good one; 1000 coins is never a joke but if Steemit communities buy the idea very soon that 1000pcs will not be able enough to cover people, cox we may have people who might intend to secure more than 3 to 5 Steem Silver, however, some may even demands for more, but i think for early stage this 1k pcs is not a bad idea..

My Point 2: Number of rounds should be specific when Steemit Communities buy the ideal completely, so that many don't missed the opportunities of having/secure Silver Steem for itself

Point 3: Is the shipping charges going to be charged along with silver steem prices or a differently cost ( i mean the logistics expenses to deliver silver steem to different bidders must be overemphasize)

Eg. I ordered for 2 silver steem to Nigeria, the cost of sending to nigeria will be different from silver shipping to UK; but if that can spell out charges to ship steem silver to different countries/continents

if possible we can define logistics expenses to different continents/countries of the world. Eg. Africans, Americans, Europeans Asian, Australian.

I must commend your leadership skills and innovative minds to bring up this silver steem coins again.

Regards,
@davidad

I really like the idea. I believe that this direction needs to be developed. This will have not only physical value but also moral value. That is, the owner will look at the coin and remember the old days. Because she will evoke associations in him.

That's right, it has moral value

The idea of combining the virtual world with the real one is great in itself!
I'm not an artist or a designer to appreciate her appearance, but I definitely like this silver coin.
I am ready to give 250 STEAM for the opportunity to hold it in my hands :)
But there is one possibly difficult moment, I live in Russia. Will the purchased coin be able to reach the recipient? :)

I don't know, but it can probably be investigated whether it is possible to send it
