I'll give you a few helpful tips to get you started (I just started today too)
To get a picture on the left hand side of your post for others to see, simply drag and drop the photo file from your computer onto the text field when typing your post, also there should is a button underneath the field of text that lets you upload a photo to your post, make it relevant to your posts so that it catches the readers eyes.
Get a profile picture, this was a little confusing to me at first because when you go into settings and try to upload a profile picture all you see is a text field for a "profile picture URL" use the site https://imgsafe.org
Right away on that site you can select a picture from your computer and upload it, then when it is uploaded right-click it and then click copy link address, then when you paste that into "profile picture URL" and click update you will now have a profile picture!Post quality stuff

oh yeah and if you want to add a youtube video to your post, you can just copy and paste the URL of the video into your post and it'll automatically show up as a video.
