두 명의 재상(宰相)과 마치현(马齿苋)

다음은 당(唐) 나라 제 15 대왕 헌종(宪宗: 서기 805년 - 서기 820년)때 재상(宰相) 겸(兼) 대시인(大诗人) 무원형(武元衡)과 재상(宰相) 겸(兼) 명의(名医) 이강(李绛)과 마치현(马齿苋)에 관한 소고사(小故事)이다.

안사지난(安史之乱) 후(后) 각지(各地)에 군웅(軍雄)들이 할거(割据)하여 부세(赋税)를 납하지 않았다. 헌종(宪宗: 李纯)이 즉위하자 마자 서천절도사(西川节度使) 위고(韦皋)가 병사(病死)하였으므로 인하여 유벽(刘辟)을 수령(首领)으로한 반란(叛乱)이 일어났다.

​서천(西川)은 군사상(军事上) 요지(要地)였다. 헌종(宪宗)은 재상(宰相) 무원형(武元衡)을 서천절도사(西川节度使)로 파견하여 반란(叛乱)을 평정(平定)시켰다.

무원형(武元衡)은 삼복염하(三伏炎夏) 시기에 서천절도사에 임명되었으며 얼마 지나지 않아 그의 경골상(胫骨上)에 염창(臁疮: 下腿潰瘍(정강이에 난 부스럼))이 발생하여 병정(病情)이 반복(反复)되고 발열(发热)과 소양증(瘙痒症)이 겹치고 근육(肌肉)이 부란(腐烂)되어 농혈(脓血)이 그치지 않았다.

무원형의 고통은 이루 말할 수 없었고 정신이 피로하고 식욕(食欲)도 감퇴(减退)되어 도저히 서천(西川)에서 중대(重大)한 임수(任务)를 수행 할 수 없었다.

​헌종(宪宗)은 할수없어 태의(太医) 석몽(石礞)을 선두로 장안(长安)의 명의들로 하여금 서천에 가서 무원형의 병을 치료하라고 명하였다. 석몽(石礞)의 치료를 받았으나 별로 효험이 없었다.

어느 날 무원형(武元衡)이 고민하며 앉아 있을 때 소관리(小官吏)가 무원형의 병정에 대하여 질문하더니 “下官倒有一方，专治多年恶疮，即便顽恶疮疡，不过几次就可治愈，您不妨一试。” 라고 무원형에게 말했다.

​다시 말하면 ”소인이 다년간 악창을 치료한 경험방이 하나 있는데 몇 차례 써보면 신효막측한 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이니 한번 써보십시요.” 는 뜻이다.

​무원형은 소관리에게“方药为何？快快道来。”라고 말했다.

다시 말하면 ”방약이 무었이냐? 어서 방법을 나에게 일러다오.” 는 뜻이다.

​소관리(小官吏)는“方也简单，采些鲜马齿苋，捣烂敷在疮口，每日换药就成。马齿苋遍地生长，可食用，亦有清热解毒，散血消肿之药性。”라고 무원형에게 대답했다.

​다시 말하면 ”치료 방법은 아주 간단합니다. 신선한 마치현을 뜯어다가 짛이겨 환처에 부쳐주고 매일 한 차례씩 갈아 부치는 것입니다. 마치현은 흔한 식물이며 식용도 하는데 청열해독 작용과 산혈소종의 약성이 있습지요.” 는 뜻이다.

​무원형은 매우 기뻐하며 몇 차례 마치현을 갈아서 환처에 부쳤다. 염창(臁疮)은 과연(果然) 씻은듯이 치유되었다. 무원형은 소관리에게 감사의 뜻을 표했다.

후에 한의학을 연구하던 재상(宰相) 이강(李绛)이 이 사실을 듣고 그의 의학전저(医学专著) 《병부수집방(兵部手集方)》에 마치현(马齿苋)의 약용가치(药用价值)를 기록해 두었으며 지금까지 전해오고 있다.

​명(明) 나라 때 의약대가(医药大家) 이시진(李时珍)은 《본초강목(本草纲目)》에 마치현(马齿苋)의 약용가치를“清热解毒，攻血消肿之功效”라고 기록해 놓았다. 다시 말하면 ”마치현은 청열해독 작용과 공혈소종의 공효가 있다.” 는 뜻이다.

​마치현(马齿苋)은 하계(夏季)에 쉽게 채취할 수 있는 육질(肉质)의 초본식물(草本植物)이며 약식(药食) 겸용(兼用)할 수 있는데 그 성미(性味)는 산(酸), 한(寒)이고 청열해독(清热解毒)과 양혈지리(凉血止痢) 작용이 있으므로 열독창양(热毒疮疡) 외에 습열사리(湿热泻痢)와 붕루(崩漏)와 변혈(便血)과 열림(热淋)과 혈림(血淋) 등 병증(病症)의 치료에 현저(显著)한 효과(效果)가 있다.
