Identifying Trees
In April I took a bunch of blossom photos as it was the season when fruit trees started to blossom. Taking photos and posting them here was the easy part of the job. Trying to identify them made me realize how little (or nothing at all) I know about them.
That is why I decided to follow their evolution and learn more about them.
The other day I was in the neighborhood and though I'd go to check the fruits.
I thought this was black cherry but it turns out it's not.
It looks like an apple tree to me, although not the regular one. These fruits will be dark for sure. This means I have to go back next month and check again to be sure.
It's funny how we can get used to something as part of the scene and not know what it is, right? Good thing there's Steem and blogging, at least I know how much I don't know and what I have to learn.
There was a time when people were foraging and their food was what they could get from the forest, hunting or fishing. If we were left on a deserted island with nothing, I wonder how many of us would know what to do in order to survive.

They look like crab apple trees to me. They have such beautiful flowers. I planted one at my old house, ironically along with a cherry tree. I thought they paired nicely together. So cheerful when they bloom.
Thanks for using eSteem!

Many thanks.
Beautiful apple blossom
Thank you.
It looks like a wild apple tree... one of those producing small but very tasty fruits. 😋
Too bad I never get to taste them. This is two meters from the main road, full of pollution 😃
Yeah...the times when we could eat wild fruits without fearing a disease are ling gone now. 😔
It looks like a crab apple tree, birds love to eat the fruit. It doesn't taste that great on it's own but I know people who make stuff like jams and purees with it. I used to have one in my backyard at my old place and there was so many bird variety eating from the tree all year long. It does look pretty spectacular in full bloom, we have many of them here too. Great photo collection!
Thank you very much @ladybug146. I didn't know it's crab apple, that is why I had to investigate :) I'm happy to hear birds like it, they have to eat something, right? Thank you for the nice comment and have a nice weekend :)
