RE: Vlog 307: European Union might ban the use of memes because of copyrights. Could frictionless royalty payments be possible on a blockchain? + Steempay 0.3

On the other hand I would like to see the EU try it. That would be interesting.

Only thing that would get harder would be banning cryptos. I'm a big advocate of copyrights and patents. But just like any other great tool like nuclear energy etc. it can be used for very destructive means and that's what these idiots have been doing for some time (with patent trolls and other scum)

They need to understand why copyrights even exist in the first place. Copyrights let the creators make money off of their creations. It's pretty much like having a bounty on something. there is a lot of incentive to create and creators can be self sufficient without sponsors.

EU needs to get schooled on fair use.

Sort:

The meme police will be kicking down doors across the continent while the bus stations become rape rooms.

Exactly, no one is going to confuse a meme with the movie it came from nor will it prevent the author from making money off of it. No one is going to stop making movies lest a frame becomes integrated into a meme.

Don't you know, the mayor of Cologne has figured out way to stop all of that. Girls just need to keep the men at arms length. If the women can't outrun them, that's her failure as a human being.

That video points out the motivation and justification they use, guilt
you colonized these people long ago therefor now they can colonize you and if you say shit it is hate speech.
