Of the Reptilian Mind and Higher Consciousness...
Hi, dear Steemians!
The human mind possesses the faculty to perceive existence on different planes of value and worth. Hence it can come with no surprise that the way you see the world is different to the way a friend of yours sees it.
Psychologists have been struggling for years to find a common ground for the mentality of the human race, but more often than not, we tend to surprise accumulated wisdom with our unexpected virtues or our unlikely characteristics that come from unique sources of inspiration.
To put in more simply, our minds are creation machines that might baffle even the most well-educated scientists of our era as they drown in our unexpected and surprising genius.
Today I want to talk to you about higher consciousness. The idea of a higher consciousness can be traced back to the beginning of civilization, and the very foundations upon which the whole of philosophy rests.
Even the very first original thinkers of our race had some idea of a higher consciousness.
But what is higher consciousness?
Even though our minds are never as simple and indulging to be categorized into certain elements, we can assume that our mentality and thought pattern can be divided into two main states; the Reptilian Mind and the Higher Conscious Mind.
Everyday distractions of social life and our fundamental needs such as eating, sleeping, and mating, or luxurious desires and lustful cravings are all representative of our Reptilian Mind.
The need to take what you want, the desire to seek pleasure or inflict pain, our aggressiveness towards negative surges of energy that come our way, and our unrelenting will to survive in the bleak outside world are all embodiments of the Reptilian Mind that is irritatingly similar to the behavioral pattern of an animal.
But then, in unique and often rare moments of revelation and pure enlightenment, the boundaries of our mind shake and tremble, leaving behind our pitiful needs, obscure insecurities, and loathsome desires in the search of something divine and graceful.
These are the moments when we reflect on life and the whole of universe, creation, and the reason behind existence with clarity and awe.
In such moments, we lose touch of right and wrong, and we no longer feel the need to search for an ideal state of being for our lives.
Our minds fly in an untroubled sky of astonishment. We feel empathy and reason beyond our wildest dreams, and we begin to see reality as it truly is, and not with our usual social filters that compel us to brand everything in a certain and convenient way.
This gracefulness, and this mental state of divinity, is the cornerstone of higher consciousness.
Moments of higher consciousness are indeed rare, but when they happen, they elevate us as a human being and fundamentally improve our understanding of the universe.
This in turn gives us empathy and reason towards life and the people that are around us. You are suddenly not a machine with desires and needs, but a spiritual presence who could enlighten anyone and give meaning and reason to their lives.
Ultimately, we cannot really identify the triggers of higher consciousness, as for every other person, it can be an altogether different experience.
What we can say for sure is, we should look toward life with an open vision and search for moments of higher consciousness, drowning in the joy of seeing it all from above and freeing ourselves of the shackles that bind us to our Reptilian and perhaps, empty side of nature.
Seek moments of higher consciousness, and be mindful of every moment that passes while your mind is elevated to divinity.
Use those moments to improve yourself, not just as an inspiring person, but as an embodiment of the best that our species has to offer.

Thank you for putting in so much effort, great post!
I refer higher consciousness as a state of "Nirvana" explained by the sect of "non-dualism". The nirvana is a state where there is no two. Non-dualism of conscoiusness where everything becomes one. The consciousness we understand defines the realm of dream. You wake up from this dream to attain non-dualism aka nirvana.
As you follow the path of non-dualism, the higher-conscious is easier to attain. Really nice musings you portrayed in your blog. I am a forever follower. Thanks,
The term higher consciousness may differ in its meaning from person to person. For me it's something that truly defines me. Even when the odds are stacked against me, I prefer to choose the road of righteousness , however hard it may be. It comes through the value system that one has been brought be up with. It's like a belief system that says that God exists and he is watching us all from up above.

This is an interesting topic. I did not know that there was a reptilian mind ... and as for the higher consciousness. The definition that you give:
It is the meaning that we Christians give to Jesus Christ. therefore, in my case, it is the best definition of the higher consciousness. My God would then be the higher consciousness, who is the one who gives us everything you mention in your publication:
And all this is achieved when you have God in your heart.
I like one thing about these levels of consciousness, and that is the thing I can know, by analyzing myself, I can know how to reach these levels.

This isn't a topic that's easily understood by most people unless one has going through some kinda of spiritual awakening or inward journey of self discovery. But I am glad you wrote this article.

As a kid, I read about lucid dreaming and was eventually able to have a sense of consciousness in some of my dreams where I could sort of control what I was dreaming about. It's really fascinating to think about how part of my brain was making up the dream, while some other part was able to direct it. There are definitely different levels of our emotions, and empathy is definitely up there towards the top
