The Good Liar. Few critical words

Do you like watching movies? What is your favorite one so far?

A month ago I received an invitation for a pre-release of 'The Good Liar'. I always happy to go to the cinema for free haha Probably, as anone else. And, I like the actors too. So, there was no reason to skip it.

I shared a brief review on this movie on my insta. But recently one of organizations asked me to write a critical review. Actually, it was not so easy. And I am not the one, who like to write any critical articles, essay etc. But, there was no choice.

I had just about 1-2 hours. And it was evening after a long working day...So...

A movie ‘The good liar’ is one of the most popular film which was released this year. The genre of the movie is a mix of drama with thriller. From the very first scene we can see some contradicting moments.

First of all, there are many scenes which does not look natural. For example, the opening scene of the film, when main heroes of the movie get known each other, obviously shows that they lie to each other. Each their word is a lie. But they lie too much. The main idea of the movie is a woman’s revenge, which was planned detailly for a long time. However, the way how they found each other in internet is unclear. How did she know which website to use? How did she know his username in that website?

Secondly, a film consists of many different ideas, which make the film overloaded. Film shows some historical events. For instance, during the trip to Germany they visited the old apartment of male actor, he told the story about what happened to him. But it was not clear, was it a truth or a lie again. In addition, some scenes do not fit to the smooth story line, like a scene when male actor killed his enemy. It seems like this scene was just inserted in the middle of another story.

In addition, most of the film shows just a story between man and woman, and the main idea and the reveal was shown very fast at the end of the film. It is obvious that all attention and work was focused on the scene of dialogue between main heroes, when they finally tell all the truth.

Final scene shows a big happy family which have a lunch together. It seems like a happy end, but from beginning of the movie female hero said that she does not have a family. Also, a young man who was helping her is not her real grandson. And when she saw her granddaughters, her eyes reflected some worry, and she followed them, but everything seemed fine.

In conclusion, the film has interesting idea, but it shows too many events and facts. Also, some scenes looked incomplete.
