Autumn Olive
Out for a hike with @dreemit today, and look what we found- autumn olive!
This is a great plant to snack on in the wild or harvest and take home.
It makes the most amazing jelly.
Best of all, this is a free superfood that packs a ton of vitamin c, as well as 15% higher quantities of the antioxidant lycopene than even tomatoes.
Get out to find the autumn olive plant today. Just look for the sunniest spot in a hedgerow, that's where you'll see this awesome red berry.
Happy hunting!
I’ve never heard of “Autumn Olive.” Where does it grow natively? Great closeup photography.

Thanks! If the plant is considered an invasive species in America, it’s likely been poisoned out of existence in most neighborhoods. HOAs are pretty strict about yard controls. That would explain why I’ve never seen or heard of it before. Until our current residence (we moved here just a couple of years ago), we’d always lived in neighborhoods with pretty strict HOAs.
