Plans for My Eco Paradise
The joy of moving to a new place! When I said that I have a wide space in front of the house, it means this! This is just the house of the roosters in front of my house. I'm going to claim this place as my own 'eco-paradise', @andrewmarkmusic coined the term. Which only means being surrounded by tropical trees, plants and possibly some wild animals out there... but wait there's more - surveillance cameras, because this a brave new world ei! I'm a modern beautiful savage.
The owner agreed to relocate my neighbor's roosters and dogs - but I'm not counting on it. I actually gave my neighbor some dog food as a gift, suggested by @braveboat. Do I sound diabolic? Anyway, they are my only neighbors here so I will try to be sweet...awww.
Overall, I'm quite happy with how things turned out! Feliz (my cat) would be so happy too! The good thing is that I can now check my first goal/new year resolution this year off the list - to move to a new place. It seems that everything else has been halted until I can fulfill this goal. So I guess some things happen for a reason.
I'm planning to stick around here until such time I can afford to buy my own land and who knows...build my own eco-paradise someday! Does it sound like a cool plan? Steemit bnb/eco-paradise/self-sustainable community something. I've been wanting to do something like that for a long time but there are things I have to fulfill first - my project, for the cash of course. You need cash for everything ei! Perhaps I'll just have the eco-paradise as my long-term goal. It is just nice to dream about that for now. Baby steps.
I am grateful that the landlord allowed me to do some gardening and grow my own food here, which makes me a happy person. That is actually the idea of moving here. I really have no experience with gardening and I only volunteered in a permaculture/spiritual community in Brazil during my trip. I used to work in a big city and I didn't have time and opportunity to learn about growing my own food. This is the time to learn.
The main purpose is to minimize my expenses. Eat healthy/organic food, be healthy and happy. Avoid big expenses due to not being healthy and happy, and also avoid mindless spending. As you can see, I am so committed to having the kind of life that I want. I did everything to find a perfect place to nurse my dreams. So I'm not planning to upgrade my lifestyle anytime soon, not until I could make money from my venture. But I highly doubt that I would go back to my previous life. I can adapt to both modern conveniences and simple living. It is important to train myself to be adaptable - with or without noise. But I prefer to swim in the sea of free time. I can take a good life. Do I sound like a big girl now?
I didn't realize that I have a travel souvenir rooster sticker on my laptop that I got in a coffee shop in Medellin city. Anyway, I'm not going to remove it as a sign of solidarity. Maybe I can get a rooster tattoo too what do you think? It's time to make peace with these cockerels. Maybe I'll give them some 'good food' or something and be attached to them. I will try my best to empathize with this whole male dominance thing and understand their reasons to cock-a-doodle-dooooo!
Do you have any experience with gardening? Maybe you can help me here! What do you suggest planting in this tropical humid weather? I already have some ideas but I also welcome any suggestion or advice. I'll post my gardening journey too.
Hey, thanks for the mention! I just hope all works out with the dogs and roosters. lol
I LOVE the idea of growing your own food and developing your Eco-Paradise. What could be more fulfilling than growing and sustaining yourself with your own food?
What to grow? Well, what do you want to eat? Once you determine what things you'll enjoy eating a lot of then you can figure out if your climate is conducive to growing them. Maybe there's something you can grow that you could sell, too...
Baby steps, indeed. It looks like you're well on your way! 👍🌱🐓
Thanks!
I will probably stick to easy vegetables, maybe those that regrow... I can grow in pots or in water hehe. Baby steps.
Yeah; maybe look into the hydroponics growing methods... I think it would be a lot easier growing in water than plucking around in the soil and dealing with pests like roosters and dogs. lol
Yeah, hydroponics method for starters! There's basil, lettuce, onions, etc. Or those I usually cook lol. I hope my cat, dogs and roosters would not destroy my food.
haha Maybe you can find some chicken wire to protect your crops. Or, in this case, rooster wire! lol
I have so much to do! lol.
They'll keep the bugs away from you crops and make good compost! Eco paradise amazing @diabolika right up my street. I have a similar plan but with a twist! Its a work in process and to do with my career currently. Just need more crypto lot more. It will come to me when the time is right! 💯🐒
Good luck with your eco paradise plan! Or good luck to us!
Indeed! We don't need luck just determination :) 💯🐒
True that!
I really applaud your attitude and thinking here! It's a step in the right direction, IMO...Become one with the cockerels :D
Anecdote: a part of what I did back in the day was to try and implement Walden but my and our attempts would always lead to failure as I was raised a dumb city boy! Now if the internet had existed in 79 I'm sure my attempts would have been more successful! One winter, on one attempt up in the mountains off the grid it was so cold that the bloody cockerels froze to death! You might have been impressed with my homemade moccasins, though:)
I don't have a lot of experience with gardening but Youtube is your girl in that regard. I did spend 4-years gardening in boxes on a roof quite successfully. I only have one pic though and that is my fish tank Pansie aquarium which ending up looking awesome by the fall. The plants grew for near 8-months in it:) Best tomatoes I've ever eaten, too:)
Hehe, I like that ingenuity! It looks nice with that blue umbrella!
I got inspired by Walden long time ago. I just won't obsessively measure the pond or something.
Maybe I'll stick to hydroponics method for now... and some easy stuff. Well good luck to me, I'm a dumb city girl but hey youtube is a friend indeed.
Poor bloody cockerels froze to death... 😔 🐓
I'm glad to hear you moved the a new place, like you wished to.
I'm so jealous of people who are able to grow plants (I suck in this, and I don't have the patinas for it, LOL).
Good luck with your awesome plan :)
I don't know yet if I will suck at planting lol. Let's see hmmm...
This actually sounds like an awseome plan.
Living in a steemit bnb!
Good luck with the gardening I cant get you any tips except how to kill your plants ;-)
Get that rooster tattoo!
Say Felix Flipstar said Hi
Ok, I'm happy you support my rooster tattoo idea hehe! 🐔
I will say hi to him for you. Thanks! 😊
I support every tattoo :-)
Well...maybe not every but many
I have some experience with the gardening, but in subtropical climate, not humid tropical one lol.
Anyways, you have a great plan, enough space and quite of the imagination to build a really beautiful place.
Awww thank you!
Wish you good luck and lot of joy for this great decision that you made! It may not be easy, but you'll enjoy the little things for sure :)
Thank you!
A Steemit BnB would be so cool!
I hope you have some peace in the new place.
I hope so too!
At least you'll be able to get some early morning motivation from these little chickens!! Maybe even start doing a morning workout?? :)
I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your new location, despite some unexpected circumstances. Make an opportunity out of any potential flaws in your situation! (Ok, ok, I'll step away from my up-beat, positive outlook). But seriously, if you can take advantage of an unexpected situation by using the "new-found" time for something productive, make some lemonade out of those lemons! :)
The 4:00 AM rooster concert / wakeup call sounds too early for workout lol. But yeah, maybe it's time to wake up early!
@diabolika, sending you the best of wishes as you move to your new place.
I love seeing your tropical, eco-paradise. Every time I see photos of your adventures it reminds me of my time overseas.
You can probably find banana trees naturally where you live, but if you find a variety that you enjoy I recommend replanting close to your house.
I am not sure about the rules where you live, but in Indonesia foreigners could not own land. I recommend that you find out about laws related to land ownership. I wouldn't want your eco-paradise plans to be derailed.
Thanks, @sumatranate! Yes, there are banana trees around here! Maybe I can plant close to my place too.
I'm pretty sure I can buy a land here... I only need cash hehe.
