INKTOBER Day #2 "MINDLESS"

The second day is here, the theme for today is "mindless" a somewhat difficult idea (but not as much as tomorrow's, I still do not know what to draw) but after giving a couple of turns to the matter I resolved with an old saying.

Nothing more dangerous than a monkey with a blade

I've always been amused by that phrase, did anyone ever give a leaf to a monkey to see what was going on? What happened next? I pity the poor little monkey and the fool who dared to try to take the blade away from him.

Tools:

  • Opaline Cardboard (A4)
  • Black ballpoint pen
  • Marker Black thick tip

-Step 1:

With an HB pencil I sketched my idea, making soft strokes that would allow them to be easily erased, because if they are done with a lot of force, there would be cracks in the paper and that would ruin the inking.

-Step 2:

With the black pen I delineated the whole drawing using as a guide the strokes of the sketch, which I erased later to get rid of the graphite.

-Step 3:

It's time for the black marker to come into action, its function is quite simple, fill in the large spaces that go in solid black, taking care of the selvedges of course.

-Step 4:

For the details, I used again the black pen, I wanted that the coat of the monkey was noticed a little and for this the pen was the indicated one, I only had to make strokes in the direction of the hair and to fill some spaces.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.

What is inktober?

The inktober is an initiative created by the illustrator Jake Parker in 2009, in order to improve his artistic skills, although over the years has made a great impact on the international artistic community. The challenge is to make a drawing with ink every day, hence its name, "ink" (ink) "tober" (October), although for the most part this is respected, many other artists prefer to stay in their comfort zone, so you can see illustrations made with watercolors, graphite, charcoal, digital and any existing technique.

We are so sorry!

Last night STEEMAUTO had a bug for several hours and we downvoted INSTEAD of upvoted. The bug has been fixed.

I'm going through and removing all downvotes, replacing them with the corresponding upvotes.
Thank you for understanding. ❤️

This is so cool! The lines are super clean! I'm curious what he's holding in his hand! Also, the last step in the gif you added in some additional rendering/ambient occlusion! Was that with the same pen using very light strokes?? Haha, I get so lazy I just smudge ink around so I should definitely try that.

Not that much of a fan. The ink is there but I think there are lots of monkeys more clever than what message you are trying to deliver.
