Basil, Brie, Roasted Strawberry Crostini - FOOD PHOTO SHOOT
So I have a really easy party snack for you guys today because it's getting so close to Christmas. You ready?
These are crostini, which is actually the plural form of crostino. I know, this confuses a lot of people. It’s like how the plural of cul-de-sac is actually culs-de-sac. That one never made since to me when I was younger either. Those sneaky Europeans! I’m convinced they say everything backwards just to confuse the Americans.
Have I mentioned that I’ve been making way more snacky appetizer type foods than usual lately? I can’t remember. Hey, it’s hard to keep track of these little datails when you have ten billion other things on your mind. I’m not going crazy, my brain is just….what do you call it?
Oh yeah, buffering, or loading in some cases. Yep, that’s me, always planning my next crazy recipe, trying to remember what I put in that chocolate cake, reminding myself to check my email (which hardly ever works), and the list goes on.
I can’t think of anything more delicious combo than strawberries and basil. Oh, and I found brie at the local grocery and that’s kind of what made this thing happen. I think these crostini are going to change the way I look at appetizers. They are so easy and the sky is the limit as far as what you can top them with.
Roasting the strawberries makes them so sweet and yet still a bit tart all at once. It’s the perfect thing to pair with basil and brie and don’t forget to top it with plenty of pepper to set it off. I should also mention that these would be awesome with balsamic drizzled on the top. I almost put that in the recipe but I they were already so perfect as is so I thought I’d leave that as a suggestion. Happy snacking!

Jingle Bells! Looks yummy
Thanks for reading @wrladyhawk! Happy Holidays
Ingredients
1 pint fresh strawberries (about 4 cups) hulled and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
salt & pepper
1 french baguette, cut into ½ inch slices
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 ounces brie cheese
handful of fresh basil leaves, torn
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 C) and line a baking tray with foil, then brush with olive oil. Lay strawberries out on pan in an even layer and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until berries are soft, dark, and look slightly shriveled.
While berries are in oven, line a separate pan with parchment or foil and brush baguette slices with oil. Place on pan and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Bake for 6 - 8 minutes until edges are lightly toasted.
Slice brie into thin slices (don't worry about the outer layer, it's edible) and place on top of each crostini while still warm then top with berries and basil and serve.
Thank you very much - my family will love this for a special occasion.

I can feel the taste of those roasted strawberries .. truly awesome!
Thank you so much @hms818!
Now that's an interesting combo that I've never seen before.
Perhaps the Old Dog could give it a go? Or, adapt it to his style?
Thanks so much for stopping by, I always enjoy your comments!
Your photos are so gorgeous!
Whats funny though is that when I saw this my mind just assumed this was a tomato basil crostini dish but then I realized it looked like strawberries and I was tripping for a second hahaha
Yes its true I am uber tired, I have been working since 6;30am this morning so thats over a 16 hour work day so far......
Anyways beautiful as always and I can only assume DELICIOUS!
Blessings~*~
16 hour days, I know what you're saying.
I'm guessing that you have a few strawberry patches in your garden(s). Perhaps we'll see an adaptation to this recipe in mid to late Spring? I can't remember if I have ever stated it to you, but my creations are all fair game for you or the others in the garden to adapt to their creative style. All my content is yours to use as you please.
Here's to great times on Steemit!!
STEEM ON!
Ya, 16 hours is quite a while to just be awake let alone working the whole time hahaha though thankfully all my work is my passion and thats why I can just keep going going!
Yes we have lots of strawberries in spring and early summer. We make lots of nice strawberry deliciousness my favorite being the strawberry wine and vinager!
Yes it would be fun to do a GOE food series on Gringa Adaption Recipes!
SteemON!
Strawberry wine, I must try it. Do you have any aging?
That would be a great cross promotion campaign, 'Gringa Adaptation.' Let's talk after the first
Yea great idea! The possibilities would be beautiful and delicious!
I am not sure if I have any Strawberry wine left (it goes fast ;-)> hehe but I think I do have some strawberry pear wine! Also I KNOW I have some strawberry vinegar aging and ready to use!
I am sure I will see you again soon and we can discuss the possibilities.
Sounds fun!!
Yes indeed!!!
Blessings to you and the family this holiday season. I have a feeling you will have lots of feasting and good times!
