Two Pagodas on the Ground of Whaeom-sa Temple, Korea
As entering into the front yard of the temple, I could see two pagodas in front of Daewung-jeon hall.
Those two pagodas looked same, but there was one difference each other.
There were carvings on the left pagoda, and there was nothin on the surface on the right pagoda.
It seemed both pagodas were made in same era.
It probably was the the last period of Shilla dynasty or the early Goryeo dynasty.
The two pagodas in front of Daewung-jeon looked like the typical style of Shilla ages’ temple.
For example, there were also two pagodas in Bulguk-sa temple of Gyeongju-city which was the capital of Shilla dynasty.
Here in Whaeom-sa temple,, the simple one seemed more powerful, in my point of view.
The simpler, the more powerful.
This 5 story stone pagoda stood like a giant survived from the all trials.
While looking around those two pagoda, one thought stroke me that the more splendid carved pagoda looked like to be dedicated to Gakwhang-jeon hall and the simple one might be for Daewung-jeon.
Below is the pagoda in front of Daewung-jeon hall.

Let’s look at more in detail about the carvings on the left pagoda. The carvings looked like 4 heaven kings keeping the Buddhist paradise. And there were 8 features of symbol of the Buddhist world view on the first floor of the pagoda.
The feelings might be different from the angle of the eyes. I looked down the pagodas from the higher place.
It was little bit different from that of the lower position.
@slowwalker,
These stone crafts looks similar to stone crafts in my country too! Nice and wonderful photography of your visit! Thank you!

Great photos. For people who are not attentive to detail, these pagodas may seem the same.
