You the sun - I the universe
When you are with me I can tell you how your brilliance lights up life upon me
When you are away I can tell you how cold, arid, and lifeless it can be on other planets that belong to me
When you are close I can tell you how you make my moon smile
When you are away I can tell myself that my other planets have more moons and are thriving anyway
When you are here I can tell you how important you are as the centre of my universe
When you are away I tell myself that there are stars shining more brilliantly than you, but I'm not aware just because they are far away
Why can you not tell me that you burn for me and me alone?
What is it that keeps you so stationary in my life?
What is it that keeps you oblivious of my appreciation?
That I need your scorching light to thrive upon? To love you as you are?
Why is it that you feel you will char all that I have?
That you can never sustain the life of me?
Let me tell you something
While I know you are the sun of my universe,
I also know that there are planets of mine thriving without your warmth
They are peaceful, magnificent, and are in their own orbits
It's just that I'm obsessed with this particular planet around you.
If you remain oblivious, you compel me to orbit away into the cosmic.
