For a few days, STEEM had two noteworthy stories.

1) @steemit account canceled full power down

The steemit account has canceled the full power down for 42 million STEEM and resumed power down for only 3 million STEEM.

As a result, their SP will decrease by 0.23 million a week. Previously it was reduced by 3.24 million per week.

Let's briefly review the entire history of this.

The steemit account had started full power down for 34 million STEEMs on January 13, this year, for fear of freezing accounts due to sudden hardfork claims.

Since then steemit has attempted a full power down to 42 million STEEMs on January 20th, after recalling part of the SP delegated to @misterdelegation and @steem.

However, this movement of steemit has faced a great resistance from the community, and as @steemalliance is formed, steemit seems to have changed its mind once.

However, in the process, steemit has moved over 10.3 million STEEMs to bittrex, etc. These amount looks similar to the number of STEEMs that steemit is estimated to have sold through the @alpha account over the past year and looks quite large.

2) A major problem has been identified in the DPOLL survey.

Auditing dPolls

Finally, Votovzla was chosen.

But when a certain app suddenly got a lot of votes, an audit was conducted and a suspicion was found.

There were about 60 accounts in DPOLL that deleted the trail after voting for the app.

This is not strictly a matter of DPOLL.

But this time, we got a bigger worry.

It is likely that someone actually did the intentional twist of the survey.

However, we can only doubt about this behavior, but it is difficult to say that it is wrong for a specific account. This is because there are no definitive clues such as an account using the same wallet, or the same IP address being accessed.

STEEM is an SP-based system, not an account-based system. Anyone can use multiple subaccounts. We can even generate free mass accounts since HF20. So, we can make dozens or hundreds of votes on our own. This can greatly distort the survey.

Not only that, it also makes it very difficult to rank using votes or comments. Most apps are worried about this. Proactive blocking efforts may be required. Also, because of these problems, there are some opinions in the KR Community that some applications may require real name authentication.

따라서 steemit의 SP는 이제 매주 23.4만개만 줄어들 것으로 보입니다. 이전에는 매주 324.2만개나 감소중이었습니다.

이에 관한 전체 히스토리를 간단히 리뷰해보겠습니다.

steemit계정은 갑자기 생겨난 하드포크 주장으로 인한 계정동결 우려를 구실로, 올해 1월 13일에 34백만STEEM에 대해 풀파워다운을 시작했었습니다.

이후 steemit은 @misterdelegation과 @steem에 위임된 SP의 일부를 회수한 뒤, 1월 20일에는 42백만STEEM에 풀파워다운을 시도했었습니다.

그러나 steemit의 이러한 움직임은 커뮤니티의 큰 저항에 부딪혔고, @steemalliance까지 결성되면서, 일단 마음을 바꾼 것으로 보입니다.

하지만 그 과정에서 steemit은 여러번에 걸쳐 총 1,030만 스팀을 bittrex등으로 이전했습니다. 이는 steemit이 작년 1년간 @alpha계정을 통해 매도한 것으로 추정되는 스팀 갯수와 맞먹는, 적지 않은 규모로 보입니다.

2) DPOLL설문조사에서 중요한 문제점 발견

최종적으로는 Votovzla가 선택되었습니다.

그런데 특정 앱에 갑자기 대량의 몰표가 나오자, audit이 실시되었고, 의심스런 점이 발견되었습니다. 그 앱의 경우, DPOLL에서 투표한 뒤 그 흔적을 지운 계정이 약 60개나 있었습니다.

이것은 엄밀히 말해 DPOLL의 문제는 아닙니다.

하지만, 이번 일로 우리는 더 큰 고민거리를 얻었습니다.

실제로 누군가 의도적인 설문조사 왜곡행위를 했을 가능성이 높습니다.

그러나 우리는 이러한 행위에 대해 의심을 할 수 있을 뿐 특정 계정의 잘못이라고 단정하기는 어렵습니다. 동일한 지갑을 사용하는 계정이라거나, 접속한 IP주소가 동일하다거나 등의 확정적 단서가 부족하기 때문입니다.

STEEM은 SP기반 시스템이고, 계정기반 시스템이 아닙니다. 누구나 여러개의 부계정을 사용할 수 있습니다. HF20이후에는 심지어 무료로 대량의 계정을 생성할 수도 있습니다. 따라서, 혼자서도 얼마든지 수십~수백개의 투표를 만들 수 있습니다. 이것은 설문조사를 크게 왜곡할 수 있습니다.

이뿐 아니라, 투표수나 댓글수를 활용한 순위산정 방식을 매우 어렵게 만듭니다. 대부분의 앱들은 이에 대해 고민하고 있습니다. 앱을 만들 때, 이에 대한 사전차단 노력이 필요할 수 있습니다. 또한 이런 문제점 때문에, KR커뮤니티 내부적으로는 일부 앱에 대하여 실명인증이 필요한게 아니냐는 의견도 일부 제기되는 분위기입니다.
