RE: The Beginner's Guide to Steemit, Part 6: Voting
@ethandsmith - I voted or upvoted this post simply because I thought that it was another great, detailed piece of information for the new and not so new people here on Steemit. I guess at my age it is difficult to get my head around all the new technology and lately I found that I have to read something two, three times (or sometimes more) to fully comprehend it. That does not mean that your explanation is not good, it simply means I have to get my brain up to speed. I even clicked on the link to check my voting power and it seems my voting power is quite strong at the moment at 96.77%... so does that mean I can go and read a few more posts and upvote them if I really think it is worth to do it? I will have to come back to your post and read it again to fully understand this. BTW... Can you please explain what the "Age" of 21 moons mean on the image? I see that it has the date that I joined Steemit, so are our presence here on Steemit counted on the passing/cycles of all the full moons or what? Keep up with all the great info, please.
Hi there @elsievr. I'm glad you stopped by to read this post.
It's great to know that you're learning about the platform! There's a lot of information to learn, so I hope this series has helped illuminate some of the trickier parts.
To answer your question, if you're at 96%, you definitely have room to cast a few more votes! I mentioned that 10 votes per day is a good benchmark. If you're at 96, that means you can give out 8 more votes before your voting power will be down to 80%. Then you can watch as it replenishes back to 100% over the next 24 hours!
The moons thing is just the way steemd displays your age. It does indeed correspond with moon cycles or months. It's not anything important, I think they just picked that as a unit of time.
Let me know if you need help with anything else!
