RE: Steem Stats Report - Friday, October 12 - 5,134 new accounts
So who are those five thousand? We need to see the active users climbing. What I tend to see is lots of automated votes and very few comments. It shouldn't just be about the money. We should be social. An active community will attract more new users.
I survive here because I have auto-voters. This place is a nightmare to try to find posts to upvote. Other than my own auto-voting, I find people to upvote in projects I am involved with here, but probably 60% of my upvotes are done by steemdunk, for people I care about. I check in on them weekly or so to make sure I still want to support them, and that they are still posting at all.
With comments, I upvote the good ones I get on my posts and I have more that I can upvote in that manner. Someone told me to upvote the comments on my posts a long time ago and that really seems to help with engagement. Of course, there is the dust thing to watch out for and that is why I cannot upvote them all.
I vote manually, but I delegate to others so they can support more people. I just don't have time to check out all the new users, but I hope someone is finding the good people who need support. They need to get some comments too so they know they are on the right path.
I saw an initiative to support intro posts, but I am not sure if that still goes on. I would love to know what happens with this new 5k in people, but I stick about 45 rep where I can do some good with my tiny vote.
steemit or steem or whoever is in charge needs to fix this rc thing for noobs or they will never stick around past the first hour. 1 post and five comments and their rc goes to zero right now.
5000 are from Steemit opening free accounts for new users. They do this periodically as ppl sign up.
I think integration of Steem with a multitude of Apps that users may use daily will keep user retention. The gamification of Steem might help build the habit to retain users and promote frequent interactions but I don't know how that would work.
I myself have had waves where I simply do not have the time to spend socialising/commenting and find myself regularly trying to catch up with STEEM news and alike.
True, but whenever i got in my artist circle i tend to talk about steemit as much as i can, because a lot of people just simply dont know and they trust to try only when someone who they know suggests it
Human relationships takes a long time to develop. Most amazing things are going on under the surface.
I wonder does steem does any marketing? I just for interest even if you write steemit in youtube, like 10 videos maybe will come out and in most of them people complain that in steemit you cant earn etc etc.
We have to get more bloggers here, more people who enjoy writing, have to market the site more, it is kinda in a shadow.
Maybe have to bring the first fact like-You can blog here and read good articles, interract, and then earn, not first: Earn! and then blog too
They have the funds, but don't seem ready yet. Maybe they will tell us more at Steemfest
Yes!
Very true. People don't seem to like to post when the value of Steem is low. Why, though? Facebook likes are now and always will be worth $0.00, and that never stops anyone from spending an entire day commenting over there.
dang that is true.. I need to engage more and be more social on here in general.
I think people should do what they would do on sites where they don't get paid. Make it fun and you will want to come back even when you are not making much. Otherwise it's too much like hard work.
for sure! Things will seem more natural that way. Making money should not usually be a user's number one reason/priority to utilize this great site.
I think sometimes I lose sight of just relaxing and being myself fully. It wasn't always this way for me though. As a fresh younger Steemian I believe I was less shy and reserved.
I never consciously think of the money making aspect Steemit.com offers, but perhaps sub-consciously I do? I dunno. But I do believe I will start just being myself more an commenting much more often and freely. Because why not? For some reason your comment jogged my memory in a way.
The money does change the mood here and some people just get greedy with self-votes and various abuse. They miss out on the social part and may end up getting flagged. It's a rich mix of people and some interesting behaviour for sure.
Advertising social networks Steemit no one publishes!
