I have a difficult relationship with my father. Me and my father love each other. My father worked hard, very very hard for me and my brother. Very hard. I love him. I was never close to him because of some major major hiccups in our relationship.

My dad just surprised me with a Toyota IQ. It is a small car. With 3 full seats for regular adults and another seat with less leg room. The seats can fold flat if you take away the headrest which gives lots of boot space.

Performance and Engine.

The car has a 1 litre, 3 cylinder with 67 horsepower. It is not the most powerful for sure, but I get over 40 MPG without even trying. I often get near 50 MPG, especially maintaining a constant speed at 35 to 40mph (not in start stop traffic). 0 to 60 mph in just over 14 seconds. Top speed is just over 90mph. I do not need more right now. It also has a CVT gearbox, which I am normally not a fan of. However, the good thing is I can be driving at 40 to 50 mph and it is revving at just over 1000 rpm.

Luxury Features and interior

I have keyless entry, which is so useful and handy. An automatic gearbox, which is nice and relaxing to drive although manual can be more fun. I don't think regular cars can be that much fun in terms of performance, so trying to have a manual is not going to give that much return in fun. On top of all this it also has, heating, Air conditioning, 9 airbags, electric windows and Bluetooth (although this was an aftermarket part added on by the previous owner). Combine this with the interior design, I really like being inside. It almost feels like a total contrast to the outside, in a good way.

Small but big

When you drive you forget that it is a small car. The steering is weighted on the heavier side, which makes it more reassuring on the motorways for a small car. The stability for a small car is really surprising. The boot is the only thing that is non existent, which to be honest is fine considering that I can carry things inside on the back seats, or fold the back seat and carry it.

The main thing I like about this car compared to other regular cars is the fact that it makes me smile. The style is cute, and almost funny, but still not too cartoonish, if that makes any sense. The car is surprisingly quiet and smooth. But it is more functional than cute.

I did not expect this from my father, or anyone, as I should be independent. But I cannot help but be thankful for it. My travel cost is cheaper than public transport. It is more comfortable, and there is a sense of freedom when you have your own car.

I hope to be financially stable and develop my financial skills and ability so that I can make myself loved ones proud of me, and offer them a lifestyle that they never thought they could.
