Posture belts are useless

in #fitness7 years ago (edited)

The greatest disease novadays or the consequences of sedentary lifestyle is incorrect posture. In this way, various posture belts have appeared in the market that will supposedly improve our posture, but they make no sense. The goal of this article is to educate you to understand that the invention of posture belts is meaningless.

The idea behind posture belts

They work in such a way that instead of the muscle, posture belts pulls the shoulder to the back, tighten it and keep you upright. Thus, the idea of the present invention is to replace the muscles, we will compare it with prostheses carried by persons with disabilities. For them, the prosthesis is necessary because it replaces the leg, hand, hand or whatever they are missing to be able to function in their daily life.

The posture belt wants to replace your muscles.

Do you really want a piece of fabric to replace the function of your muscles? Can it really do that? To understand that this really does not make any sense, we will first see what keeps our posture straight and proper.

Muscles keep our posture straight

Let’s go back to the muscle again. We have written an article on how to get rid of pain through strength training so take a look at it, is extremely useful, especially for people with pain problems. If we know that our muscles are holding our posture upright, then what about the belt?

The body fights against us in a way that reduces the muscles that are not used because the muscles are consuming energy and the body is constantly trying to optimize each part to survive as long as possible. If we use a belt to hold us upright, we will not use the muscles of that part of the body completely, the body will immediately see that it does not need it because they have no activation and reduce them.

Where does this lead?

Increased pressure on the joints, even greater pain in the spine, and the belt that the person carries becomes literally a denture because the back more or less doesn’t have a function any more.

Do we really want to turn ourselves into a disabled person?

What do to then?

Strengthening the muscles. Exercises that strengthen the spine muscles muscles (m.erector spinae), exercises that open us in the shoulder area. Some of the examples of such exercises are deadlifts and barbell rows. They often say that a bad posture is associated with the character of the person who is withdrawn and automatically closed in the shoulders.

Believe me that strength training with muscle strengthening strengthens your mind too, because that feeling when you ligt more than the last time, you see progress for the first time is simply the best thing that can happen to you. Show yourself for yourself and prove that you can make a move. Today with weights, tomorrow at work, the day after tomorrow for your daily life.

Let your muscles be your long-term painkiller! 🙂
