Any tips on lucid dreaming?
Anyone out there have any good lucid dreaming tips?
I'm starting to get more interested in exploring my dreams.
When I was younger I used to be really good at lucid dreaming and also at controlling my dreams, though.. At some point I sort of.. Lost connection with that to a significant degree..
And I think there's a lot of.. Dare I say.. "power" in that realm, or at least a lot you can learn.
I'm also thinking that our sleeping state is sort of like the duality of our waking state and that if we neglect our dreams we may likely become out of balance in certain ways.
I have some other neat ideas and theories about dreaming though will probably save that for a more detailed post in the future.
Anyways.. If you see this post.. Please feel free to share anything you think might be interesting or helpful. Thanks! :)
I like the technique first introduced to me in a Carlos Castendeda book. The technique was to look at the backs of your hands. If you are dreaming, but you can stop what you are doing and raise up your hands in front of you, that can serve as a stepping stone to knowing that you are dreaming and from there you can presumably wake up your consciousness within the dream space. The trick is making that mental leap without getting all excited and waking up. It works for me occasionally, but then I will often get hung up on what to do, who to see, where to go, etc. Slowly but surely, I'm working on it. I hope this is helpful for you. Of course, there are also herbs that can assist, so perhaps having some mugwort tea and then intending to lucid dream as a before bed practice could help as well. One note, when I am able to look at my hands, I always get a very strange and hollow feeling. And then waking can be rather disorienting, especially at the moment where your consciousness wakes to your body from the lucid dream if it happens suddenly. For that reason, I like to keep my eyes closed and relax my body for a time after re-entry. Great topic!
To follow up on what belleamie sugested if you are going to use the Casteneda technique, there is a gate to dreaming. I use it sometimes to put myself to sleep, although not for lucid dreaming.
There is a heaviness that crushes you when you are transported to dreaming. It has a weight to it as well, one that sometimes will jolt people awake with a feeling of falling. Begin memorizing that feeling and practice pulling it to you. I use it to force myself to sleep when I have a problem falling asleep and it is an excellent method to fall asleep.
Instead if using it to fall asleep, once you have mastered pulling it to you through willing the feeling to you, begin working on not losing your willed perception as you transition through that feeling.
I am very interested in hearing more about the heaviness. I think that is part of the hollow feeling I mentioned when I know I am lucid dreaming. Since early childhood while deep dreaming I have repeatedly had the feeling of falling, sometimes accompanied by an extremely vivid dream. Driving my car off an overpass or cliff is common. I fall, but wake up with a healthy dose of adrenaline right at the point of impact in the dream. I've become very curious about the tie between my physical sensations and the moment between waking and dreaming. I've assumed it has something to do with the chemicals released that keep you from moving while deep in dream space, and perhaps the counterpoint of adrenaline trying to get you to move.
I don't have a lot to share on this. I don't remember my dreams unless something startling is happening as I wake, and even then only if I repeat to myself or make a note immediately. If I don't do that it fogs up and disappears.
I have had a few lucid dreams, but there was always another party who went out of their way to bring it to my attention that we were in a dream.
You could be right on the chemicals, unless there is something taking place during all of this that is not tied to known laws we are imprisoned by. Like the horse tied to a chair who has been conditioned to believe the rope impedes its freedom and doesn't realize it can drag the chair wherever it wants.
I used to be very interested in lucid dreaming and used to practice it regularly. I wrote an article on it a long time ago, with tips for how to increase your likelihood of achieving liquidity. I dont mean to post it as a plug for my own blog, it's just too much for me to write out in a comment. Read it if you are interested, but no obligation or anything. If you come up with other techniques that work, let me know, I'd be interested in learning more as well :)

I would like to add that if lucid dreaming does not come easily to you (which is the case for me) then you really have to focus on lucid dreaming and practice many techniques throughout the day - every day. It kind of becomes a lifestyle. Often it takes me several days or even weeks to have a lucid dream. The technique that works better than any other in my opinion is the "wake, back to bed" method. Sometimes that's the only way I can have a lucid dream and the dreams are always much richer, in that I am much more conscious in them. I strongly believe that there are levels of lucidity. Different techniques for different people of course but if you are struggling to have one, definitely try the wake back to bed method.

The astral world is the land of all magic..........dreams take place within the astral ether...........solar body is the true authentic legitimate astral body for travel conscious.....lunar body which we all are given at birth is asleep when one is sleeping if they have not incarnated the solar body they will be travelling within the lunar body which is controlled by other forces and said to be where the succumbing and perverseness shall attach ones energies..........the solar body is the true authentic body of conscious travel but not many have achieved creating this ........ more simply stated....’create and or incarnate the solar body’ if you want to unveil what is of you
